The authors report a case of progressive ossifying myositis (POM) in a 13-year-old boy, revealed by dry cough and dyspnea. Conventional chest x-rays and whole-body CT showed extraskeletal ossification that seems to affect the left bronchial strain and trachea. This lesional topography, if established, not yet described to our knowledge, contrasts with the observations of all the authors, including Munchmeyer, for whom smooth muscles and muscles attached to the skeleton by a single end are spared by the heterotopic ossifications characteristic of the disease. Therefore, this observation raises the question of the ubiquity of muscle ossifications during POM.

Background Aims: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects about a third of adults worldwide and is projected soon to be the leading cause of cirrhosis. It occurs when fat accumulates in hepatocytes and can progress to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), liver cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. MASLD pathogenesis is believed to involve a combination of genetic and environmental risk factors.

We report the usefulness of a tapered cutting needle, which has a polyhedral tip similar to that of a square needle and transitions to a round tip in the middle, for super-microsurgery. We have performed more than 500 lymphaticovenular anastomoses (LVAs) using tapered cutting needles. Therefore, we investigated the caliber of the anastomosed lymphatic vessels and veins, characteristics of the lymphatic vessels, the time required to perform the anastomosis, damage to the lymphatic vessels and veins during anastomosis, and patency of 30 recently performed consecutive anastomoses.

Background: Scrub typhus, a disease caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi, triggers systemic vasculitis and is prevalent in Eastern and Southern Asia. This study aimed to uncover the relationship between scrub typhus and autoimmune responses, focusing on antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) and the implications of elevated ANA titers during infection.
Method: Data from a total of 139 patients diagnosed with scrub typhus and 30 healthy controls were retrospectively analyzed through serum samples to assess the levels of ANAs and related autoantibodies.

Sertoli eosinophilic granular change and Sertoli cell nodules are incidental findings. This details focal Sertoli eosinophilic granular and Sertoli cell only changes coincident with Sertoli cell nodules in a pubertal testis with acute torsion and bell clapper deformity. A 14-year-old with bell clapper deformity underwent orchiectomy for torsion.

Background: Recent studies show that hyperactivation of mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) signaling plays a causal role in the development of thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection. Modulation of PP2A (protein phosphatase 2A) activity has been shown to be of significant therapeutic value. In light of the effects that PP2A can exert on the mTOR pathway, we hypothesized that PP2A activation by small-molecule activators of PP2A could mitigate AA progression in Marfan syndrome (MFS).
