Objectives: The main objective of the study was to assess 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) status in a psychiatric population in France according to psychiatric diagnoses. The secondary objective was to investigate a correlation between 25(OH)D and CRP.
Methods: A retrospective study from February 1st, 2014 to January 31, 2016, was carried out in a French psychiatric hospital. Inpatients with a 25(OH)D measure were included. Variables including ethnic origin, BMI, psychiatric diagnoses, medical history and CRP were collected. Factors associated with 25(OH)D and CRP were studied in univariate and multivariate analyses, as was the correlation between 25(OH)D and CRP.
Results: Among 604 patients included, 80.6% presented 25(OH)D deficiency of which 46.9% with 25(OH)D<50nmol/L. 25(OH)D varied with age, ethnic origin, BMI, season, CRP and medical history. It was associated with schizophrenia in univariate analysis but not in multivariate analyses considering age and BMI. CRP varied with age, BMI and medical conditions but not with psychiatric diagnoses. 25(OH)D was inversely correlated with CRP.
Conclusion: This psychiatric population was significantly more deficient in 25(OH)D than the French population in general. 25(OH)D was inversely correlated with CRP as observed in the general population.

Introduction: Young childbearing sexual minority (SM) people are more likely to use cannabis and to have an unintended pregnancy than their heterosexual peers; however, little is known about their perceptions and experiences of peripartum cannabis use. This qualitative study explores the relationships young pregnant and parenting SM people have with cannabis, as well as their feelings and opinions about prenatal cannabis use.
Method: Participants who identified as SM from baseline surveys of the YoungMoms study were recruited for semi-structured qualitative interviews (n = 13).

Objective: This study examined whether being scheduled in a screening clinic versus scheduled directly with a long-term provider to conduct a mental health intake (MHI) is associated with engagement in child psychiatry services in New England, USA.
Method: We used electronic medical record data from one safety-net hospital serving a predominantly low-income and minoritised population. The study sample included 815 youths aged 0 to 25 years, referred or scheduled for a MHI between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2016.

Background: Peer relationships are an important aspect of child development that are often overlooked. Maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) may influence peer relationships through intrauterine mechanisms affecting fetal neurodevelopment or through postnatal mechanisms including social discrimination of the obese mother/child. This study aimed to determine the relationship between maternal pre-pregnancy BMI and child peer-relationship problems around 5 years old, including preterm and term-born children.

Background: Identifying signs of autism is essential for enabling timely diagnosis and intervention. Children from multiethnic and socioeconomic disadvantaged settings are typically diagnosed with autism later than their general peers. This feasibility study explored the psychometric properties of a new instrument, Joint Attention Observation Schedule Preschool (JA-OBS Preschool), in children with suspected autism.
