We measured the linearly polarized light scattering of pure water and seawater at various salinities and estimated the depolarization ratio using five different methods of data analysis after removing the scattering due to contamination by residual nanoparticles. The depolarization ratio values (δ) estimated for pure water using these different methods are largely consistent with each other and result in a mean value of 0.039±0.001. For seawater, our results reveal a trend of a slight linear increase of δ with salinity (S), δ=0.039+a×S, where a varies in the range of 1×10 to 2×10 between the methods.

This study evaluates the efficacy of twin screw melt granulation (TSMG), and hot-melt extrusion (HME) techniques in enhancing the solubility and dissolution of simvastatin (SIM), a poorly water-soluble drug with low bioavailability. Additionally, the study explores the impact of binary polymer blends on the drug's miscibility, solubility, and in vitro release profile. SIM was processed with various polymeric combinations at a 30% / drug load, and a 1:1 ratio of binary polymer blends, including Soluplus (SOP), Kollidon K12 (K12), Kollidon VA64 (KVA), and Kollicoat IR (KIR).

Background/objectives: The unique properties of iron oxide nanoparticles have attracted significant interest within the biomedical community, particularly for magnetic hyperthermia applications. Various synthesis methods have been developed to optimize these nanoparticles.
Methods: In this study, we employed a powdered coconut water (PCW)-assisted sol-gel method to produce magnetite nanoparticles for the first time.

Atomization plays a key role in spray drying, a process widely used in the pharmaceutical, chemical, biological, and food and beverage industries. In the pharmaceutical industry, spray drying is particularly important in the preparation of amorphous solid dispersions, which enhance the bioavailability of active pharmaceutical ingredients when mixed with a polymer. In this study, a 3D-printed adaptation of a commercial spray dryer nozzle (PHARMA-SD PSD-1, GEA Group AG) was used to investigate the atomization of PVP-VA 64 polymer solutions under varying flow conditions using high-speed diffuse back-illumination.

Dichlorvos (2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate, DDVP) is a highly toxic organophosphorus insecticide, and its persistence in air, water, and soil poses potential threats to human health and ecosystems. Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs), with their sufficient visible-light harvesting capacity, ameliorated charge separation, and exceptional redox ability, have emerged as promising candidates for the photocatalytic degradation of DDVP. Nevertheless, pure CTFs lack effective oxidative active sites, resulting in elevated reaction energy barriers during the photodegradation of DDVP.

TiO has broad prospects in reducing the safety risks posed by emerging pollutants in water environments. However, the high recombination rate of photogenerated carriers limits the activity and photon utilization efficiency of TiO. In this study, mesoporous TiO (m-TiO) and ultra-thin g-CN nanosheets were composited using a hydrothermal method, with the m-TiO tightly and uniformly wrapped by g-CN.
