Federal government guidelines recommend wearing hand shielding that provides full protection for the entire hand during manual restraint of animals for radiography. The primary objective of this cross-sectional survey of 143 Saskatchewan veterinary workers was to describe behaviors of workers who do not follow guidelines for effective hand shielding, and to examine the factors associated with these behaviors. An electronic invitation to complete an online questionnaire was sent to 1261 members of the provincial veterinary medical and veterinary technologist associations. More than half of the workers reported that their hand protection was visible on a radiograph at least once a month, and 1/5 reported visible unshielded body parts at least once a month. More than 1/3 of workers never used shielding that fully enclosed their hands. Use of fully enclosing gloves or mittens was more likely for workers in academic workplaces ( < 0.001).

Introduction: Stress shielding remains a concern following total shoulder arthroplasty using press-fit short humeral stems. While the effect of alterations in implant geometry, positioning, and sizing on stress shielding have been investigated, the effects of coverage of the cortical boundary of the resection plane have not yet been fully explored. The purpose of this study was to quantify the effect of improved cortical coverage using elliptical vs.

Introduction: Pain is reported as one of the most troubling symptoms for people with Parkinson's (PwP); however, the literature exploring their lived experience of pain and how to manage it is limited. Pain affects PwP at all stages of their condition and can fluctuate and change over time. Therefore, it is pertinent to speak to PwP to understand their experiences of pain to inform the development of tailored behavioural interventions to manage pain.

Biomarkers of ageing serve as important outcome measures in longevity-promoting interventions. However, there is limited consensus on which specific biomarkers are most appropriate for human intervention studies. This work aimed to address this need by establishing an expert consensus on biomarkers of ageing for use in intervention studies via the Delphi method.

Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic differences between the agents might affect clinical response rates. We aimed to compare the effectiveness of ceftolozane-tazobactam and ceftazidime-avibactam for treatment of invasive multidrug-resistant P aeruginosa infections.

Hirayama disease (HD) is a rare disorder characterized by insidious asymmetric neurogenic atrophy primarily involving the upper extremities.
