The present work deals with extraction of Cellulose Nano Crystals (CNCs) from Banana fiber using the steam explosion method. Extracted CNCs was grafted with butyl acrylate (BA) monomer with ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as an initiator. The prepared graft copolymer was analyzed using FTIR, XRD, SEM and EDAX. FTIR results indicate that the CH type of linkages was observed in the grafted copolymer showing effective formation of grafted copolymer. XRD results elucidate the changes in the crystalline behaviour of the prepared CNCs grafted butyl acrylate copolymer. SEM images of a prepared adsorbent was appeared to be heterogeneous and covered with clusters which will be suitable for adsorption. Batch adsorption studies was carried out for the removal of Pb(II) ions from the aqueous solution using the prepared copolymer. The parameters such as effect of pH, contact time, initial metal ion concentration and adsorbent dosage was investigated. From the observed results it was concluded that, the optimum pH: 5, contact time: 360 min, adsorbent dosage: 4 g/100 mL and initial metal ion concentration: 125 mg/L. The adsorption isotherm models of Pb(II) ions could be described very well by Freundlich model and the kinetic results revealed that pseudo-second-order kinetics showed a better fit.

This article focusing on examining the function and further, molecular function of SHP2 in ovarian cancer (OC). For the molecular mechanism, bioinformatics was applied to study the specifically expressed genes in ovarian cancer ; the western blotting was applied to identify the EGF, p-SHP2, ZEB1, and E-Cadherin expressions in ovarian cancer tissue and pair adjacent tissue; then SKOV3 cells were treated with EGF and infected with E-Cadherin overexpression lentivirus, and then cells were treated with benzyl butyl phthalate and IRS-1 respectively. Detection of expression of p-SHP2, ZEB1, E-Cadherin, α3-integrin, p-Src, p-SMAD2, Snail, Slug and SKOV3 cells of migration and invasion abilities were detected using Western blot method and cell scratch assay and Transwell assay; Progression of ovarian cancer was detected using subcutaneous tumor transplantation assay in nude mice and HE staining method and immunocyto.

In this article, we report on the alginate heterografted by Poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide-co-N-tert-butyl acrylamide) and Poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) (ALG-g-P(NIPAM86-co-NtBAM14)-g-PNIPAM) copolymer thermoresponsive hydrogel, reinforced by substituting part of the 5 wt% aqueous formulation by small amounts of Poly(acrylic acid)-g-P(boc-L-Lysine) (PAA-g-P(b-LL)) graft copolymer (up to 1 wt%). The resulting complex hydrogels were explored by oscillatory and steady-state shear rheology. The thermoresponsive profile of the formulations were affected remarkably by increasing the PAA-g-P(b-LL) component of the polymer blend.

Phthalates and bisphenols, ubiquitous compounds found in various everyday products, have garnered attention due to their potential health-disrupting effects. This study aimed to (1) investigate urinary phthalate metabolites and bisphenol A (BPA) levels in donors and recipients prior to allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and monitor changes in these compounds in pediatric recipients at different time points (Day-9, Day 0, Day+7, Day+28, Day+90), and (2) assess their association with engraftment success. Urine samples from pediatric recipients and donors were collected for analysis of phthalate metabolites and BPA in 34 donor-recipient pairs.

Scalp arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is a rare vascular malformation that may present as a pulsatile scalp mass with complications like hemorrhage. We report a case of a large scalp AVF with recurrent bleeding, managed successfully with a multimodal approach. A 46-year-old man presented with a recurrently bleeding pulsatile scalp mass in the left temporal region, initially diagnosed as AVF following trauma.

A series of copolymers containing a thermo-responsive biocompatible first block of poly[di(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate)--(oligo(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate], P(DEGMA--OEGMA) were chain-extended to incorporate either poly(-isopropylacrylamide), PNIPAAm or poly(-isopropylacrylamide--butyl acrylate), P(NIPAAm-co-BA) as second thermo-responsive block using reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. P(DEGMA--OEGMA)--PNIPAAm copolymers showed two response temperatures at 33 and 43 °C in an aqueous solution forming stable aggregates at 37 °C. In contrast, P(DEGMA--OEGMA)--P(NIPAAm--BA) copolymers showed aggregation below room temperature due to the shift in response temperature provoked by the presence of hydrophobic butyl acrylate (BA) units, and shrinkage upon heating up to body temperature, while maintaining the second response temperature above 40 °C.
