We report the preparation of a novel glutamine derivative, (2S,4S)-2,5-diamino-4-(4-(2-fluoroethoxy)benzyl)-5-oxopentanoic acid, (2S, 4S)4-[F]FEBGln ([F]4), through efficient organic and radiosyntheses. In vitro assays of [F]4 using MCF-7 cells showed that it entered cells via multiple amino acid transporter systems including system L and ASC2 transporters but not through the system A transporter. [F]4 showed promising properties for tumor imaging and may serve as a lead compound for further optimizing and targeting the system L transporter associated with enhanced glutamine metabolism in cancer cells.

Stroke affects over 12 million people annually, leading to high mortality, long-term disability, and substantial healthcare costs. Although East Asian herbal medicines are widely used for stroke treatment, the pathways of operation they use remain poorly understood. Our study investigates the neuroprotective properties of (AM) in acute ischemic stroke using photothrombotic (PTB) and transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO) mouse models, as well as an oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) model.

Pancreatic Cancer (PC) is a devastating malignancy with a poor prognosis and in-creasing morbidity. Current treatment strategies have limited efficacy in improving patient survival. Metabolic reprogramming is a hallmark of cancer and plays a key role in the pro-gression and maintenance of PC.

Background: Japanese encephalitis (JE) induced by Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) infection is the most prevalent diagnosed epidemic viral encephalitis globally. The underlying pathological mechanisms remain largely unknown. Given that viruses are obligate intracellular parasites, cellular metabolic reprogramming triggered by viral infection is intricately related to the establishment of infection and progression of disease.

Metabolic reprogramming stands out as a defining characteristic of cancer, including glioblastoma (GB), enabling tumor cells to overcome growth and survival challenges in adverse conditions. The dysregulation of metabolic processes in GB is crucial to its pathogenesis, influencing both tumorigenesis and the disease's invasive tendencies. This altered metabolism supplies essential energy substrates for uncontrolled cell proliferation and also creates an immunosuppressive microenvironment, complicating conventional therapies.
