Published: April 2019

A rare and novel Cr-substituted polyoxoniobate (PONb), [CrNbO(OH)(HO)], has been synthesized by a combination of hydrothermal and conventional solution methods. The PONb shows an unknown tetrameric structure, which is the largest Cr-containing PONb to date. Interestingly, every two PONb tetramers can be joined together by alkali-metal cations to form a discrete cubelike ionic cluster. The obtained PONb not only enriches the very limited members of the Cr-substituted PONb family but also exhibits high ionic conductivity.

Deep eutectic solvent (DES)-based conductive hydrogels have attracted great interest in the building of flexible electronic devices that can be used to replace conventional temperature-intolerant hydrogels and expensive ionic liquid gels. However, current DES-based conductive hydrogels obtained have limited mechanical strength, high hysteresis, and poor microdeformation sensitivity of the assembled sensors. In this work, a rubber-like conductive hydrogel based on -acryloylglycinamide (NAGA) and DES (acetylcholine chloride/acrylamide) has been synthesized by a one-step method.

Atmospheric pressure drying (APD) method holds great promise in the large-scale production of aerogels without specialized equipment and critical conditions. However, atmospheric-dried cellulose- based aerogels are challenged by the collapse of the pore walls induced by the capillary force that arises during solvent evaporation. This study prepared an atmospheric dried cellulose nanofiber (CNF) aerogel with a low shrinkage rate (17.

Robust Mechanically Interlocked Network Ionogels.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, 800 Dongchuan Road, 200240, Shanghai, CHINA.

Ionogels have attracted considerable attention as versatile materials due to their unique ionic conductivity and thermal stability. However, relatively weak mechanical performance of many existing ionogels has hindered their broader application. Herein, we develop robust, tough, and impact-resistant mechanically interlocked network ionogels (IGMINs) by incorporating ion liquids with mechanical bonds that can dissipate energy while maintain structural stability.

A strong repetitive stimulus can occasionally enhance axonal excitability, leading to the generation of afterdischarge. This afterdischarge outlasts the stimulus period and originates either from the physiological spike initiation site, typically the axon initial segment, or from ectopic sites for spike generation. One of the possible mechanisms underlying the stimulus-induced ectopic afterdischarge is the local depolarization due to accumulated potassium ions surrounding the axonal membranes of the distal portion.
