Introduction: Patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) are at high risk of progressing to heart failure (HF). Recent research has shown that lipid droplet-related genes (LDRGs) play a crucial role in myocardial metabolism following MI, thereby influencing the progression to HF.
Methods: Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and differential expression gene analysis were used to screen a transcriptome dataset of whole blood cells from AMI patients with (AMI HF, = 16) and without progression (AMI no-HF, = 16).

Introduction: Identifying peripheral arterial disease (PAD) remains challenging with currently used bedside tests. The maximal systolic acceleration (ACC) is a promising noninvasive parameter measured by duplex ultrasonography and reflects the arterial perfusion proximal to its measurement point. The principal aim of this study was to analyze the diagnostic accuracy of the ACC for detecting significant stenosis in different arterial segments, which could be useful in clinical decision-making.

Peripheral nerve injury poses a significant challenge to the nervous system's regenerative capacity. We previously described a novel approach to construct a chitosan/silk fibroin nerve graft with skin-derived precursor-induced Schwann cells (SKP-SCs). This graft has been shown to promote sciatic nerve regeneration and functional restoration to a level comparable to that achieved by autologous nerve grafts, as evidenced by behavioral, histological, and electrophysiological assessments.

Introduction: Despite achieving sustained viral response (SVR) after treatment with direct-acting antivirals (DAAs), the risk of liver disease progression and extrahepatic complications in chronic hepatitis C (CHC) remains. We aimed to determine the role of residual HCV-RNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), a condition known as occult hepatitis C (OCI), and systemic inflammatory markers as predictors of long-term outcomes in patients treated with DAAs.
Methods: We followed 42 patients treated with DAAs with OCI status determined after therapy, for a median of 6.

Patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) face a heightened risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Despite this widely reported association, the pathogenic contributors and processes that may favor the development of COPD in MS patients have yet to be identified. Recent studies have suggested peripheral blood leukocytes as a potential link between COPD and autoimmune disorders.
