Introduction: Filariasis, a neglected tropical helminth disease needs vaccine besides mass drug administration for its successful eradication.

Methods: An attempt was made to produce a fusion protein (P-TUFT-ALT-2) of abundant larval transcript protein-2 and Tuftsin to enhance its immunogenicity. The fusion construct was expressed in , a nonexpensive commercial expression system. This study focused on the evaluation of immunological response produced by P-TUFT-ALT-2 in Balb/c mice.

Result And Discussion: P-TUFT-ALT-2 showed an enhanced IgG peak titre compared to expressed E-ALT-2 and expressed P-ALT-2. IgG2b, IgG2a and IgG1 production were predominant indicating a balanced Th1/Th2 response. P-TUFT-ALT-2 also induced about 28% and 9.5% higher splenocyte proliferation over control and E-ALT-2 respectively. Splenocytes produced predominant IFN-γ followed by IL-5, IL-2 and IL-10 specifying a balanced Th1/Th2 response. P-TUFT-ALT-2 showed 55% to 80% with an average of 65% cytotoxicity in L3 larvae in ADCC assay.

Conclusion: This experiment validates P-TUFT-ALT-2 as a potential vaccine candidate for human lymphatic filariasis.

Background: Neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), along with amyloid beta plaque, are neuropathological aggregates of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Hyperphosphorylated tau is responsible for the NFTs formation and further neurodegeneration in AD. The hippocampal region and the entorhinal cortex (EC) have been a major focus of AD research because the deposits of hyperphosphorylated tau protein and NFT in these regions are correlated with memory deficits.

Background: In the brain as in other organs, complement contributes to immune defence and housekeeping to maintain homeostasis. Sources of complement may include local production by brain cells and influx from the periphery, the latter severely restricted by the blood brain barrier (BBB) in healthy brain. Dysregulation of complement leads to excessive inflammation, direct damage to self-cells and propagation of injury.

Background: The histologic classification of rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) as alveolar (aRMS) or embryonal (eRMS) is of prognostic importance, with the aRMS being associated with a worse outcome. Specific gene fusions (PAX3/7::FOXO1) found in the majority of aRMS have been recognized as markers associated with poor prognosis and are included in current risk stratification instead of histologic subtypes in localized disease. In metastatic disease, the independent prognostic significance of fusion status has not been definitively established.
