The lack of cost-effective nutrient sources and harvesting methods is currently a major obstacle to the production of sustainable biofuels from microalgae. In this study, Chlorella pyrenoidosa was cultured with saline wastewater in a stirred photobioreactor, and lipid-rich flocculent microalgae particles were successfully constructed. As the influent salinity of the photobioreactor increased from 0% to 3%, the particle size and sedimentation rate of flocculent microalgae particles gradually increased, and the lipid accumulation of microalgae also increased gradually.

December 2024

Neonatology Department, Maternidade Bissaya Barreto, Unidade Local de Saúde de Coimbra, Coimbra, PRT.

Introduction Multifetal pregnancies, which account for 2-4% of births worldwide, have increased in recent years. Twin pregnancies carry a higher risk of preterm birth and associated neonatal morbimortality, with monochorionic twins considered at greater risk. This study investigates the influence of chorionicity on neurodevelopmental outcomes in preterm twins.

Part 2 explores the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing the complexities of headache disorders through innovative approaches, including digital twin models, wearable healthcare technologies and biosensors, and AI-driven drug discovery. Digital twins, as dynamic digital representations of patients, offer opportunities for personalized headache management by integrating diverse datasets such as neuroimaging, multiomics, and wearable sensor data to advance headache research, optimize treatment, and enable virtual trials. In addition, AI-driven wearable devices equipped with next-generation biosensors combined with multi-agent chatbots could enable real-time physiological and biochemical monitoring, diagnosing, facilitating early headache attack forecasting and prevention, disease tracking, and personalized interventions.

Evaluating the ability of large language models to emulate personality.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Shanghai Institute of AI for Education, East China Normal University, 3663 North Zhongshan Road, Shanghai, 200062, China.

For social sciences, recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) have the potential to revolutionize the study of human behaviors by facilitating the creation of realistic agents characterized by a diverse range of individual differences. This research presents novel simulation studies assessing GPT-4's ability to role-play real-world individuals with diverse big five personality profiles. In simulation 1, emulated personality responses exhibited superior internal consistency, but also a more distinct and structured factor organization compared to the human counterparts they were based on.

Research Findings: Early science skills predict later science achievement, and persistent achievement gaps in science appear as early as preschool. The current study compared the effectiveness of different instructional approaches for teaching preschoolers about sinking and floating and examined individual differences in learning. Participants were typically developing 4-5-year-olds (=93; 47% female).
