Cp*Cobalt(III)-catalyzed enantioselective C-H amidation of ferrocenes using monoprotected amino acids (MPAAs) as chiral ligands was developed. The reaction was performed under mild conditions in high yields (up to 97%) with moderate enantioselectivity (up to 77.5:22.5 er), providing a promising strategy to create planar chirality via base-metal-catalyzed enantioselective C-H activation.

The poor prognosis of glioblastoma multiforme, inadequate treatment options, and growing drug resistance urge the need to find new effective agents. Due to the significant anti-cancer potential of harmicens, hybrid compounds which comprise harmine/β-carboline and ferrocene moiety, we investigated their antiglioblastoma potential and mechanism of action (inhibition of DYRK1A, Hsp90, anti-oxidative activity). The results have shown that triazole-type harmicens, namely , with a ferrocene moiety in C-3 position of the β-carboline ring ( = 3.

There is growing interest in developing monotherapy drugs that treat inflammation caused by microbial infections, focusing on dual antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory agents with minimal side effects and high safety margins. This study synthesized and characterized a library of novel cis-4-ferrocenylazetidin-2-ones, evaluating their antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities. These organometallic monocyclic β-lactams showed moderate in vitro antimicrobial activity against various standard microbial strains, including yeasts and Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.

With the interest and knowing the importance of ferrocenyl conjugates, a direct amidation of ferrocenyl aldehyde has been developed under feasible conditions. Varieties of amines has been oxidatively coupled with ferrocene aldehyde in the presence of highly economical and robustly stable iron chalcogenide ironcarbonyl clusters [FeE(CO), E= S, Se, and Te] and TBHP. The reaction worked in greener solvent water at a moderate temperature of 70 °C and the ferrocenyl-amides in just 30 minutes.

Pantetheinase is a key biomarker for the diagnosis of acute kidney injury and the monitoring of malaria progression. Currently, existing methods for sensing pantetheinase, also known as Vanin-1, show considerable potential but come with certain limitations, including their inability to directly sense analytes in turbid biofluid samples without tedious sample pretreatment. Here, we describe the first activity-based electrochemical probe, termed VaninLP, for convenient and specific direct targeting of pantetheinase activity in turbid liquid biopsy samples.

To effectively monitor multi-residues of penicillin antibiotics (PENs) in milk, we developed a novel ratiometric electrochemical aptasensor enabling simultaneous detection of PENs. The aptasensor employed a broad-spectrum aptamer as a recognition element, niobium carbide functionalized with methylene blue (NbC-MB) as a reference signal generator, and a ferrocene-labeled aptamer (Fc-Apt) as an output signal. Electrodes were modified with Fe-N-C doped carbon nanotubes (Fe-N-C-CNTs) to amplify detection signals further.
