Arteriosclerosis is a generalized disease and manifests in different vascular regions: the most important manifestations are the coronary artery disease, the peripheral artery disease and the cerebrovascular arteriosclerosis. The challenges of modern ultrasound systems to detect early vascular damage are reviewed in this article. Colour coded duplex ultrasound is the first line method for screening and diagnostic imaging in vascular disease. Indications for further imaging as CT-angiography, MR-angiography and digital subtraction angiography will be discussed in the different sections.

Background: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols can reduce the length of stay (LOS) for surgical patients, including those undergoing unilateral deep inferior epigastric artery perforator (DIEP) flap breast reconstruction, allowing most patients to be discharged by postoperative day 2. However, some patients require a prolonged inpatient stay due to difficulty completing postoperative milestones. This study aims to identify factors associated with increased LOS after DIEP flap breast reconstruction and assess safety of earlier discharge.

Fabricating complex hierarchical structures mimicking natural vessels and arteries is pivotal for addressing problems of cardiovascular diseases. Various fabrication strategies have been explored to achieve this goal, each contributing unique advantages and challenges to the development of functional vascular grafts. In this study, a three-layered tubular structure resembling vascular grafts was fabricated using biocompatible and biodegradable copolymers of poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) using advanced manufacturing techniques.

Introduction: The efficacy of lipoprotein apheresis (LA) in peripheral arterial disease (PAD) has been primarily attributed to its anti-atherosclerotic effects through the adsorption of lipoproteins. However, the other potential effects of LA remain unknown. We evaluated changes in serum profiles before and after LA using a comprehensive analysis to explore the underlying mechanism.

A 43-year-old woman presented with dyspnea and cough, initially misdiagnosed as respiratory syncytial virus. Persistent symptoms led to pulmonary thromboembolism treatment, but worsening issues revealed recurrent pericardial effusion. Imaging and biopsy confirmed pulmonary artery intimal sarcoma, mimicking thromboembolism, and autoimmune disease, underscoring diagnostic challenges.

Background: Despite advancements in valve implantation devices, vascular access complications (VAC) remain a significant cause of morbidity and mortality for those undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). We describe pre-operative imaging analysis of the aortoiliac and femoral arterial beds using the TransAtlantic intersociety consensus (TASC) score, ilio-femoral tortuosity, and procedural characteristics to identify anatomic risk factors predictive of VAC in TAVR.
Methods: Consecutive patients undergoing TAVR from 2012 to 2022 at a single North Dakota hospital were retrospectively reviewed.
