Patients with A20 haploinsufficiency (HA20) presenting with central nervous system (CNS) symptoms are rare, and available reports are limited. Here, we describe a patient with HA20, previously followed up as Behçet disease, who presented with CNS symptoms in adulthood. A 38-year-old Japanese male who had been followed up for incomplete Behçet disease at another hospital since 28 years of age presented to our hospital with acute-onset diplopia and persistent hiccups that were severe enough to cause vomiting.

Fever has long been recognized as one of the earliest clinical indicators of illness and remains a leading reason for seeking medical care worldwide. It is typically classified based on its duration and underlying etiology. In clinical settings, intractable fever is as common as acute fever, particularly in patients with brain injuries.

Protect or prevent? A practicable framework for the dilemmas of COVID-19 vaccine prioritization.

PLoS One

Determining COVID-19 vaccination strategies presents many challenges in light of limited vaccination capacity and the heterogeneity of affected communities. Who should be prioritized for early vaccination when different groups manifest different levels of risks and contact rates? Answering such questions often becomes computationally intractable given that network size can exceed millions. We obtain a framework to compute the optimal vaccination strategy within seconds to minutes from among all strategies, including highly dynamic ones that adjust vaccine allocation as often as required, and even with modest computation resources.

Owing to the high invasion depth and easy formation of biofilms, the treatment of subcutaneous fungal infection is intractable and challenging. Herein, we report an injectable and biodegradable hydrogel with bactericidal, quorum sensing inhibition and antioxidant activities for the in situ treatment of subcutaneous fungal infection. The hydrogel (BEPE) was constructed by irradiating mixed bovine serum albumin (BSA), ε-polylysine and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)-loaded mesoporous polydopamine (PDA) under near-infrared (NIR) light.
