This review aimed to examine the perceptions of parents, professionals and informal network members regarding support needs of parents with intellectual disabilities (ID). In accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement, five databases were systematically searched and 19 qualitative studies were reviewed using thematic analyses. No data were available on the perceptions of the informal social network. Data on parents and professionals were categorized in four themes (type of support, sources of support, conditions of successful support and characteristics of support members). Data from professionals did not refer to emotional support needs or to the potential support of volunteers, friends and neighbours. Data from parents indicated a preference to be treated as 'full' parents, whereas professionals tended to focus on disabilities of parents. Results and implications contribute to insights into support needs of parents with ID from different perspectives and may help identify new entry points to improve future interventions and working alliances.

Understanding what people believe the causes of autism to be has implications for experiences of familial guilt and stigma. Using a qualitative approach, we investigated how Brazilian healthcare professionals, parents of young and adult autistic people and young and adult autistic people consider the origins of autism and the interaction between the biological and social environment concerning the challenges autistic people encounter. Eight health professionals who assist autistic people, five young autistic people, six family members of young autistic people, five autistic adults, and four parents of autistic adults participated in the research.

Purpose: This study aims to explore the complex relationship between paternal and maternal parental psychological flexibility, parenting styles, and child problem behavior within the cultural context of China.
Methods: Structural equation modeling was used to conduct statistical analysis on longitudinal data from 893 parent-child pairs in Shanghai.
Results: The study found a significant negative correlation between maternal parental psychological flexibility and child problem behavior, with maternal authoritative and authoritarian parenting styles mediating this relationship.

Background: Participant and Public Involvement in youth mental health research aims at making research more responsive to the needs of youth struggling with mental health issues, their parents, and mental health professionals and other stakeholders. Do characteristics of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in youth mental health research align with transparency and replication prerequisites as necessary conditions for translation? Relatedly, the question is addressed whether co-authorship should be assigned to youth involved in the study.
Methods: Here we address these questions re-visiting 50 PPI studies included in two recent systematic reviews of PPI on characteristics that are pertinent to questions about transparency, replicability, translatability, and co-authorship in PPI research.
