The frequency of recurrence of subacute thyroiditis (SAT) is rather high, reaching 20⁻30%. The reason for SAT relapse is still unknown. Recently, we have demonstrated the association between SAT and the presence of HLA-B*18:01, DRB1*01, and C*04:01, apart from the previously known HLA-B*35. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the correlation between SAT-associated HLA haplotypes and the risk of SAT recurrence. HLA-A, -B, -C, -DQB1 and -DRB1 were genotyped using a next-generation sequencing method in 49 SAT patients. The patients were divided into the following HLA groups: 1. HLA-B*35 and/or HLA-C*04, but without any other of the analyzed antigens; 2. HLA-DRB1*01, regardless of the co-presence of HLA-B*35 or -C*04:01, but without HLA-B*18:01; 3. HLA-B18 only, without any other antigen; 4. HLA-B*18:01 plus -B*35, regardless of the presence of any other analyzed antigens. The recurrence rate was compared between the groups. The recurrence rate was significantly increased in patients with HLA-B*18:01 plus HLA-B*35. In conclusion, the risk of SAT recurrence was HLA-dependent and the determining factor was the co-presence of HLA-B*18:01 and -B*35. In such high-risk patients, the steroid treatment regimen should be intensified with a slower dose reduction.

Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is an adverse drug reaction with significant thromboembolic risk. Though there are models for use of non-heparin anticoagulants, heparin remains the preferred anticoagulant in many operative settings, especially cardiovascular surgery and percutaneous cardiac intervention. The natural history of HIT can be stereotyped into phases using HIT laboratory testing to guide clinical management and determine whether heparin re-exposure can be considered.

Purpose: This study evaluated whether endovascular therapy (ET) improved early symptom relief and decreased the incidence of moderate-to-severe post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) compared to anticoagulation alone in patients with subacute (15-28 days) iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
Materials And Methods: Consecutive patients with subacute iliofemoral DVT from January 2020 to June 2022 were identified. A total of 86 patients were categorized to treatment with ET alongside anticoagulation (endovascular group, n = 49) or anticoagulation alone (anticoagulation group, n = 37).

Rationale: Cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation (CAA-ri) is a treatable condition characterized by an acute or subacute onset, with its primary pathological hallmark being the deposition of amyloid, predominantly β-amyloid (Aβ), within intracranial microvessels. Despite its potential for treatment, CAA-ri is a rare disorder that is frequently underrecognized by clinicians in practice. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the clinical manifestations and therapeutic approaches associated with CAA-ri, aiming to enhance awareness among healthcare professionals.

A 62-year-old man, previously treated for oral cavity carcinoma, presented with new-onset cognitive-motor symptoms. Brain MRI revealed a periventricular, avidly enhancing lesion in the right anterior basal ganglia and hypothalamus suspicious for a brain tumor, particularly CNS lymphoma. 18F-FDG brain PET/CT showed corresponding uptake suggestive of primary brain tumor, lymphoma, or metastasis.

Rupture of a hydatid cyst can lead to the development of a disseminated form of intra-abdominal cystic echinococcosis if not diagnosed and treated promptly. Anaphylactic shock is a definite indication of cyst rupture. The presented clinical case was a young athlete with a disseminated form of cystic echinococcosis, which was investigated in 2023 at the Syzganov National Scientific Center for Surgery of Kazakhstan.
