Obesity is a growing concern in the US and world-wide, associated with an increased risk for several cardiometabolic diseases, including metabolic associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Currently, therapeutic interventions to prevent and/or treat MASLD are limited, and research is needed to identify new therapeutic targets. The specific-sized 35kDa fragment of hyaluronan (HA35), has gut protective and anti-inflammatory properties and a previous pilot clinical study reported it is well tolerated in healthy individuals.

Background: With the elevated level of NAFLD prevalence, the incidence of diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome and other diseases is also significantly elevated. GLP-1RA can exert weight loss, glucose-lowering effects and various nonglycaemic effects. However, the relationship between quantitative reduction in hepatic fat content and improvement of pancreatic islet function by GLP-1RA is unclear.

Unlabelled: Children with Down syndrome (DS) have a higher incidence of overweight and obesity compared to typically developing peers. The fat mass and obesity-associated gene (FTO) is one of the early identified genes linked to obesity in various populations. To date, the FTO rs17817449 gene polymorphism has not been investigated in overweight/obese-DS (ODS) individuals.

Urolithiasis is a prevalent condition in urology, with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) serving as a common treatment for kidney stones under 2 cm. The Mayo Adhesion Probability (MAP) score, calculated from perinephric fat characteristics, is traditionally used to assess surgical outcomes but has not been explored in the context of ESWL. This study aims to evaluate the effect of MAP score on the success rate of ESWL.
