The entrainment between weakly coupled nonlinear oscillators, as well as between complex signals such as those representing physiological activity, is frequently assessed in terms of whether a stable relationship is detectable between the instantaneous phases extracted from the measured or simulated time-series via the analytic signal. Here, we demonstrate that adding a possibly complex constant value to this normally null-mean signal has a non-trivial warping effect. Among other consequences, this introduces a level of sensitivity to the amplitude fluctuations and average relative phase. By means of simulations of Rössler systems and experiments on single-transistor oscillator networks, it is shown that the resulting coherence measure may have an empirical value in improving the inference of the structural couplings from the dynamics. When tentatively applied to the electroencephalogram recorded while performing imaginary and real movements, this straightforward modification of the phase locking value substantially improved the classification accuracy. Hence, its possible practical relevance in brain-computer and brain-machine interfaces deserves consideration.

Statement Of Problem: Infrared radiation heating (IRH) technology has been innovatively applied to the annealing of selective laser melted (SLM) cobalt chromium (Co-Cr) frameworks. However, previous studies have not reported the effects of IRH on the warping deformation and mechanical properties of these frameworks.

Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the effects of IRH on the warping deformation and mechanical properties of dental SLM Co-Cr alloy and to evaluate its potential applications in dental restorations.

A pyrrole-fused analogue of warped nanographene, designated as deca-nitrogen doped 'WNG' (azaWNG), was synthesized through the annular fusion of decapyrroylcorannulene. The resulting azaWNG exhibited extremely limited solubility in common organic solvents and was characterized solely by mass spectrometry. Theoretical calculations revealed that azaWNG has a sunflower-like molecular structure with electron-deficient corannulene as the core and electron-rich pyrrole as the petals, demonstrating a significantly narrower energy gap compared to all-carbon WNG.

This study investigates the articulatory correlates of consonantal length contrasts in Japanese mimetic words using electromagnetic articulography data. Regression and dynamic time warping analyses applied to intragestural timing, kinematic properties, and intergestural timing reveal that Japanese geminates are characterized by longer closure phases, longer gestural plateaus, higher tongue tip positions, larger movements, and lower stiffness. Geminates also exhibit distinct timing relationships with adjacent vowels, specifically, longer times to target that allow for longer preceding vowels.

Domain walls are quasi-one-dimensional topological defects in ferroic materials, which can harbor emergent functionalities. In the case of ferroelectric domain wall (FEDW) devices, an exciting frontier has emerged: memristor-based information storage and processing approaches. Memristor solid-state FEDW devices presented thus far, however predominantly utilize a complex network of domain walls to achieve the desired regulation of density and charge state.

Quantum Simulation of Partial Differential Equations via Schrödingerization.

We present a novel new way-called Schrödingerization-to simulate general (quantum and nonquantum) systems of linear ordinary and partial differential equations (PDEs) via quantum simulation. We introduce a new transform, referred to as the warped phase transformation, where any linear-including nonautonamous-system of ordinary or partial differential equation can be recast into a system of Schrödinger's equations, in real time, in a straightforward way. This approach is not only applicable to PDEs for classical problems but is also useful for quantum problems, including the preparation of quantum ground states and Gibbs thermal states, the simulation of quantum states in random media in the semiclassical limit, simulation of Schrödinger's equation in a bounded domain with artificial boundary conditions, and other non-Hermitian physics.
