Five market hogs were slaughtered to determine the microbial, organoleptic and appearance differences between accelerated and conventionally processed pork. The left side of each carcass was processed 4 h after slaughter, whereas the right side was fabricated at 24-h postmortem. Microbial sampling was conducted. Appearance and organoleptic characteristics were evaluated. Conventionally processed cuts of pork were rated higher for color and overall appearance than the accelerated-processed cuts until 120 h. Taste panel data revealed no significant difference in tenderness and juiciness between the accelerated and conventionally processed cuts. Differences in microbial load between the two processes after 120 h of storage were negligible; however, the accelerated processed cuts had a higher microbial load than the conventionally processed cuts except at 120 h. No measurable differences were found in the genera of microorganisms among samples from the accelerated and conventional methods. TBA values suggested little difference in rancidity between the two processes. Differences between the accelerated and the conventionally processed samples of pork were not enough to merit the preference of pork from one processing technique over the other method.

Fishing gears are conventionally made from non-biodegradable materials including polyamide (PA). When lost in the ocean, these gears have long-lasting impacts, including marine littering, microplastics production, leaching of chemicals, and an extended period of ghost fishing due to its durability. The use of biodegradable co-polyester material such as polybutylene succinate co-adipate-co-terephthalate (PBSAT) and polybutylene succinate-co-butylene adipate (PBSA) as fishing gear materials have been considered as a potential solution to reduce the associated impact.

Given that epilepsy conventionally correlates with hippocampal sclerosis and neuronal degeneration, a potentially innovative avenue for therapeutic intervention involves fostering adult neurogenesis, a process primarily occurring within the subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus (DG) through the differentiation of neural stem cells (NSC). While experimental seizures induced by chemoconvulsants or electrical stimulation transiently enhance neurogenesis, the effects of encephalitis and the resultant virus-induced seizures remain inadequately understood.

Concentrated animal feeding operation facility in modern livestock industry is pointed out as a point site causing environmental pollution due to massive generation of manure. An innovative modeling approach for the simulative description of the part quality of rubber materials, including the processing history, is presented in this paper. This modeling approach, the so-called average curing speed (ACS) model, is based on the degree of cure and the average curing speed instead of the conventionally considered temperature approach. Such approach neglects the processing history by calculating only the degree of cure.
