: To provide an up-to-date review of current hypertension (HTN) guidelines and discuss pharmacotherapeutic management of HTN in the older adult population. : A PubMed search of articles published through June 2018 was performed using a combination of the following words: elderly, older adults, geriatric, and HTN. : Relevant original research, review articles, and guidelines were assessed for the management of HTN in older adults. References from the above literature were also evaluated. Articles were selected for inclusion based on relevance to the topic, detailed methods, complete results, and after a thorough discussion among the authors. : HTN is a common chronic disease state in older adults. Until recently, most guidelines recommended a higher threshold for blood pressure targets in this population, compared with the general adult population. In 2017, two new guidelines for the management of HTN were published, which provided conflicting recommendations for blood pressure goals in the older population. This article reviews current U. S. HTN guidelines published in 2014 to 2017 that most commonly influence patient care, and it specifically addresses the blood pressure targets and pharmacotherapeutic management of HTN in older adults. : Management of HTN in older adults is important to avoid further complications and improve outcomes in this population. Blood pressure targets and HTN management should be individualized in older adults based on comorbid conditions, life expectancy, and risk for adverse drug events.
Background: Single-slice computed tomography (CT) body composition has been studied extensively for prognostication in patients with cancer. New software packages can also provide multi-slice volumetric measurements, but the clinical utility of these remains under explored. This study aimed to evaluate the agreement between single- and multi-slice body composition analyses in patients with oesophagogastric cancer and to explore the association between these measures and overall survival.
Background: Inclusion body myositis (IBM) is the most prevalent muscle disease in adults for which no current treatment exists. The pathogenesis of IBM remains poorly defined. In this study, we aimed to explore the interplay between inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction in IBM.
As demanding as dancing en pointe is, no universal standard exists to determine when a ballet dancer is ready to advance to this next level. The goal of this study was to provide preliminarily tested and reliable guidelines for a screening tool that can be used to determine (1) if a dancer is ready for pointe, (2) reasons why a dancer may not be ready, and (3) areas for improvement to guide training and preparation. Seventeen dancers aged 9 to 17 years with a minimum 4 years of ballet and who were either possibly ready for pointe or had been in pointe class less than 3 months participated in this study.
Aim: In early-stage breast cancer, the axillary lymph nodes play a crucial role in determining the prognosis of the disease. The rate of lymph node involvement might be a more valuable prognostic factor than the number of positive lymph nodes. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate whether the lymph node ratio (LNR) is a superior prognostic indicator compared to the pathologic lymph node count in early-stage disease.

NAT enhance the probability of breast-conserving surgery in cases of locally advanced breast cancer and in patients with metastatic or inoperable disease.
