Ionic liquids (ILs) are widely used "green solvent" as they have a low vapor pressure and can replace volatile solvents in industry. However, ILs are difficult to biodegrade and are potentially harmful to the environment. This study, herein, investigated the toxicity of three imidazole ILs ([CMIM]Cl, [CMIM]Br, and [CDMIM]Br) towards soil microorganisms.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most frequent form of dementia and represents an increasing global burden, particularly in countries like Indonesia, where the population has begun to age significantly. Current medications, including cholinesterase inhibitors and NMDA receptor antagonists, have modest effects on clinical symptoms in the early to middle stages, but there is no curative treatment available so far despite progress. Activating or repressing epigenetic modifications, including DNA methylation, histone modification and microRNA regulation, appears to play an important role in AD development.

The identification of novel molecular candidates capable of treating osteoarthritis (OA) has significant clinical implications. Monocyte locomotion inhibitory factor peptide (MLIF) is a pentapeptide derived from Entamoeba histolytica. It has been found possesses selective anti-inflammatory effects both in vitro and in vivo.

Lysine demethylases (KDMs) catalyze the oxidative removal of the methyl group from histones using earth-abundant iron and the metabolite 2-oxoglutarate (2OG). KDMs have emerged as master regulators of eukaryotic gene expression and are novel drug targets; small-molecule inhibitors of KDMs are in the clinical pipeline for the treatment of human cancer. Yet, mechanistic insights into the functional heterogeneity of human KDMs are limited, necessitating the development of chemical probes for precision targeting.

Platform chemicals from renewable resources with broad applications are highly desirable, particularly for replacing fossil-based monomers. Bifunctional aliphatic ester-aldehydes, accessible via regioselective hydroformylation of unsaturated oleochemicals, can be converted into linear ω-amino/ω-hydroxy esters and dicarboxylic acids-key building blocks for biobased aliphatic polycondensates. However, their success hinges on efficient, economically viable production, with catalyst recycling being critical.
