Objective: To investigate the choroidal thickness in children with amblyopia through spectral-domain optical coherence tomography.

Methods: A total of 31 children with unilateral amblyopia and 31 right eyes of controls with normal vision were enrolled in the study. The choroidal thickness was measured directly below the fovea and at 12 other locations: 1, 2 and 3 mm superior, temporal, inferior, and nasal to the fovea. All the parameters were compared between amblyopic eyes, fellow eyes, and control eyes.

Results: The mean subfoveal choroidal thickness was 398.03 ± 74.60, 354.13 ± 81.78, and 328.12 ± 65.93 μm in amblyopic eyes, fellow eyes, and control eyes, respectively. Significant difference was found in choroidal thickness among three groups at subfoveal choroidal thickness, N1, and S1 using multivariate analysis of covariance after adjusting for axial length. Significant negative correlation was found only between subfoveal choroidal thickness and axial length in amblyopic eyes (r = -0.463, p = 0.01).

Conclusion: The subfoveal choroid is significantly thicker in amblyopic eyes than control eyes only at subfoveal choroidal thickness, N1, and S1. The choroidal thickness was thickest in the subfoveal region and thinnest in the nasal region. There are other changes in choroidal structure associated with amblyopia.

BACKGROUND The 6-item Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) is a method for evaluating disease activity in ankylosing spondylitis (AS). This study included 78 patients with active and inactive AS and aimed to evaluate anterior and posterior segment ocular changes. MATERIAL AND METHODS Seventy-eight patients and 70 control subjects were enrolled in this study.

Background: The increasing prevalence of myopia among Chinese children and adolescents, especially at younger ages, has emerged as a significant concern in recent years. Pre-myopia is a key period for myopia prevention and control in children and adolescents. Previous studies suggested auricular acupressure (AA) therapy might offer a viable approach to prevent and slow down myopia progression.

Effects of Alpha-Lytic Therapy Withdrawal on Choroidal Parameters in Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome High-Risk Patients.

J Clin Med

Department of Medicine, Surgery and Dentistry "Scuola Medica Salernitana", University of Salerno, Via S. Allende, 84081 Baronissi, SA, Italy.

: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect on choroidal parameters of drug withdrawal in patients taking α1 adrenergic receptor antagonist (ARA) inhibitors. : In total, 32 eyes of 32 patients under alpha-lytic therapy, and 32 eyes of 32 control subjects, both scheduled for cataract surgery in the fellow eye, were included. EDI-OCT was performed in all patients and subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT), luminal choroidal area (LCA), stromal choroidal area (SCA), total choroidal area (TCA), and choroidal vascularity index (CVI) during the preoperative visit were compared with data approximately 1 month after alpha-lytic withdrawal.

Background/objectives: To evaluate the impact of intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) therapy on anatomical and visual outcomes in patients with macular neovascularization (MNV) secondary to chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (cCSC).

Methods: This retrospective observational study reviewed the medical records of treatment-naïve patients diagnosed with cCSC complicated by MNV and treated with IVB injections over a 5-year period. The presence of MNV was confirmed using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
