Today, most IVF programs have moved to blastocyst transfer but there is still uncertainty regarding when to transfer if there are only one or two embryos at the cleavage stage. The aim of this study was to compare the pregnancy rate of day 3 transfers vs. blastocyst stage transfers in patients who had only one or two embryos on day 3. We conducted a retrospective study of 102 patients with one or two cleavage stage embryos that had their embryos transferred on day 3 and 429 patients had their embryos cultured to day 5 for transfer. The number of mature oocytes (4.0 vs 4.6, = NS) and number of cleavage stage embryos on day 3 was similar in the two groups (1.3 vs. 1.5, NS). The clinical pregnancy rate per retrieval (22% vs. 24.6%, NS) and the ongoing pregnancy rate per retrieval (20% vs. 20.2%, NS) was comparable between the groups. Fifty seven (13.2%) of the patients had cleavage embryo arrest and did not have an embryo to transfer on day 5. We conclude that the cumulative pregnancy rate is the same for patients with 1-2 cleavage stage embryos regardless of whether the embryo is transferred on day 3 or day 5.

Currently, incubators with a time-lapse system are widely used for in vitro embryo production in several species, however, their effect on alpaca embryo development compared to conventional incubators remains unknown. The aim of this study was to compare early in vitro embryo development in alpacas using a time-lapse incubator system versus a conventional incubator. Ovaries were obtained from a slaughterhouse and 1048 cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) were collected and in vitro matured for 26 h in either a time-lapse system (n = 542) or a conventional incubator (n = 542).

We have realized a cathodic deoxygenative alkylation between nitro(hetero)arenes and organic halides, employing bis(pinacolato)diboron (Bpin) and LiCl as additives to trap and stabilize the generated alkyl radicals and carbanions, thereby facilitating efficient N-O cleavage and selective C-N bond formation. The protocol offers an economical method for the efficient synthesis of multiple aromatic(hetero) amines, without the need for reactive reductants and the exclusion of air and moisture. Notably, the protocol is distinguished by scalability, broad functional group compatibility, and safe and mild conditions, demonstrating practicality in the synthesis and late-stage modification of various bioactive compounds.

Objective: To compare the clinical outcomes, including pregnancy rate, live birth rate, and miscarriage rate between vaginal progesterone Cyclogest suppository and Crinone vaginal progesterone gel as LPS in frozen-thawed embryo transfer in Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) cycles.
Methods: In this comparative retrospective chart review, 283 women who had frozen-thawed embryo transfer were assessed. The patients were divided into two groups based on the route of progesterone administration used as LPS.

Proteases are overexpressed at various stages of conditions such as cancers and thus can serve as biomarkers for disease diagnosis. Electrochemical techniques to detect the activity of extracellular proteases have gained attraction due to their multiplexing capability. Here we employ an electrochemical approach based on a 3 × 3 gold (Au) microelectrode array (MEA) functionalized with (2-aminoethyl)ferrocene (AEF) tagged specific peptide substrates to monitor cathepsin B (CB) protease activity.

A time-lapse live embryo monitoring system provides a powerful approach to recording dynamic developmental events of cultured embryos in detail. By obtaining continuous short-interval images, blastocyst formation can be predicted and embryos can be selected. The objective of this study was to investigate the morphokinetic parameters of fishing cat-domestic cat interspecies somatic cell nuclear transfer (iSCNT) embryos from one-cell to blastocyst stages, and in particular, the cleavage patterns of the first division in iSCNT and IVF embryos, as these play a central role in euploidy.
