is widely distributed in the northern hemisphere, especially in eastern Asia. There has been no comprehensive taxonomic study of Taiwanese taxa for some time, and researchers could not agree on a consistent treatment of the genus. Therefore, we revised the genus by literature review and type specimen examination along with comparison of morphology, karyotype and pollen characteristics. Only one species Hayata was recognized in this study. Ying and (Hayata) Masamune & Simada are regarded as varieties of and are here presented as two new combinations, P.arisanensevar.chingshuishanianum and P.arisanensevar.formosanum.

Dracaeconolide B (), a naturally occurring homoisoflavane, was isolated from the red resin of . Efforts have been made to elucidate the exact structure of compound since it was confirmed that dracaeconolide B did not contain a 7-hydroxy-5,8-dimethoxy moiety. The structure of dracaeconolide B was revised by synthesis of three homoisoflavanes containing a 5,6,7-trioxygenated moiety each and analysis by NMR spectroscopy.

The bryocorine genus Caulotops Bergroth (Miridae: Eccritotarsini), originally described to accommodate its only species C. puncticollis Bergroth, is shown not to be congeneric with all other species now included in the genus from North, Central, and northern South America. Consequently, four new genera are established for the following 20 species, including five new combinations and 14 species described as new: Agaveocoris n.

The structure of 2,4-(4'-aminobenzenamine)pyrimidine (), a pyrimidine alkaloid previously isolated from the bulbs of (Asparagaceae, synonym ), has been revised. These conclusions were met via comparison of reported NMR and EIMS data with those obtained from synthetic standards. The corrected structure is the antibiotic sulfadiazine (), which has likely been isolated as a contaminant from the site of collection.
