Background: In a world confronted with new and connected challenges, novel strategies are needed to help children and adults achieve their full potential, to predict, prevent and treat disease, and to achieve equity in services and outcomes. Australia's Generation Victoria (GenV) cohorts are designed for multi-pronged discovery (what could improve outcomes?) and intervention research (what actually works, how much and for whom?). Here, we describe the key features of its protocol.

Background: Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) primarily acquired through sexual contact. In 2000, the World Health Organization (WHO) for the first time reported the association of STIs with male infertility. Infertility is described as the inability to achieve a clinical pregnancy after engaging in regular, unprotected sexual intercourse for a year or more.

We report a case of a parturient with severe cardiac disease requiring elective termination of pregnancy. The patient underwent successfully monitored anesthesia care using remimazolam for dilation and curettage. The patient remained hemodynamically stable and appropriately sedated while achieving optimal procedural conditions.

Background: Despite improvements in pregnancy care, preterm birth remains a major cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in developing countries. Maternal inflammation has been recognized as a factor that may induce preterm birth, with various inflammatory markers associated with its pathogenesis. The aim of this study is to evaluate the value of maternal serum amyloid A(SAA) level as a predictive marker for preterm delivery in a Romanian cohort.
