Background: Oculocutaneous albinism (OCA) is a heterogeneous autosomal recessive disorder characterized by reduced or absent melanin synthesis. Its prevalence is approximately one in 17,000 individuals worldwide. OCA causes a complete or partial absence of pigment in the skin, hair, and eyes. Reduction of melanin in the eyes results in reduced visual acuity, photophobia, and nystagmus. To our knowledge, the coexistence of albinism and thyroid autoimmune diseases has not been reported.
Case Report: A 37-year-old male with OCA came to our observation for a familial history of autoimmune thyroiditis. He complained with mild asthenia. His brother was affected by OCA and autoimmune thyroiditis. Physical examination revealed the presence of fair skin, platinum white hair, and hypopigmentation of the iris. Laboratory data revealed the presence of subclinical hypothyroidism with positive serum anti-thyroid antibodies. Neck ultrasonography showed a markedly heterogeneously hypoechoic pattern of the thyroid, with a honeycomb-like appearance.
Discussion: In the majority of cases, OCA in Caucasians is caused by mutations in the tyrosinase gene. The tyrosinase peptide is normally expressed on the surface of melanocytes, although recent studies have shown its presence in thyroid follicular epithelial cells of patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Therefore, although the mechanism is unclear, the present case report may suggest a pathogenetic link between OCA and Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

This study aimed to evaluate the recent trends in single-fraction conventional radiotherapy (CRT) as palliative treatment in Japan, using data from the National Database published by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare. Data from fiscal year (FY) 2014 to FY2022, specifically related to the utilization of single-fraction CRT, were analyzed. Multi-fraction CRT, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), and brachytherapy were excluded.

The increase of the incidence of autoimmune diseases and, at the same time, a significant surge in the number of regenerative/anti-aging medicine treatments carried out, raises the need to systematise the current knowledge on the safety of the use of hyaluronic acid fillers in patients with autoimmune diseases and to frame management guidelines for aesthetic doctors. One of the most prevalent autoimmune diseases is chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, so-called Hashimoto's disease, which affects one in every 5-10 women who visit a regenerative medicine doctor. Women in the perimenopausal and menopausal period, aged 40-54 years, were the single largest target group for aesthetic treatments.

Importance: The integration of patient-reported outcome (PRO) assessments in cardiovascular care has encountered considerable obstacles despite their established clinical relevance.
Objective: To assess the impact of a physician- and patient-friendly electronic PRO (ePRO) monitoring system on the quality of cardiovascular care in clinical practice.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This open-label, multicenter, pilot randomized clinical trial was phase 2 of a multiphase study that was conducted from October 2022 to October 2023 and focused on the implementation and evaluation of an ePRO monitoring system in outpatient clinics in Japan.

Background: Among environmental factors, infectious agents, including , can act as triggers for autoimmune thyroid diseases. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the correlation between autoimmune Hashimoto's thyroiditis with infection.
Methods: The participants in this case-control study were 74 individuals 17-62 years who were divided into two groups, including 38 diagnosed Hashimoto's thyroiditis patients from an outpatient clinic of endocrinology and 36 apparently healthy individuals that were selected from family members of cases group age-matched and sex-matched.

Atherosclerosis (AS) is a chronic vascular disease characterized by inflammation of the arterial wall and the formation of cholesterol plaques. Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) is an autoimmune disorder marked by chronic inflammation and destruction of thyroid tissue. Although previous studies have identified common risk factors between AS and HT, the specific etiology and pathogenic mechanisms underlying these associations remain unclear.
