Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) is the most prevalent and severe form of acute paralytic neuropathy, commonly triggered by infections and characterized by an abnormal autoimmune response. Reports of multispace deep fascial infection (DFI) in the head and neck complicated by GBS are exceedingly rare. We report a 69-year-old woman with DFI who developed postoperative limbs weakness.

Background: We investigated the consistency and accuracy of the Index of Consciousness (IoC) and the Bispectral Index (BIS) in monitoring the sedative effect of ciprofol during the induction of general anesthesia. There is extensive literature that reports good consistency and correlations between the IoC1 and the BIS in reflecting the sedation levels induced by propofol and sevoflurane but not by ciprofol.
Objective: The aim was to compare the consistency and accuracy of the IoC and BIS in monitoring the sedative effect of ciprofol during the induction of general anesthesia.

Background: Triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index was suggested as a possible surrogate for insulin resistance and a predictor for cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in the non-pregnant population. Increasing use of co-design concepts and buzzwords create risk of generating 'co-design branded' healthcare research and healthcare system design involving insincere, contrived, coercive engagement with First Nations Peoples. There are concerns that inauthenticity in co-design will further perpetuate and ingrain harms inbuilt to colonial systems.Co-design is a tool that inherently must truly reposition power to First Nations Peoples, engendering both respect and ownership.
