Remdesivir and moxifloxacin hydrochloride are among the most frequently co-administered drugs used for COVID-19 treatment. The current work aims to evaluate green spectrophotometric methodologies for estimating remdesivir and moxifloxacin hydrochloride in different matrices for the first time. The proposed approaches were absorbance subtraction, extended ratio subtraction and amplitude modulation methods.

Trends and cost structure of drug-based secondary prevention of ischemic strokes.

Neurol Res Pract

January 2025

Goethe University Frankfurt, University Hospital, Department of Neurology, Schleusenweg 2-16, 60528, Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Background: Advances in secondary stroke prevention, including direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), dual antiplatelet therapies (DAPT), and cardiovascular risk management, have changed costs over the past decade. This study aimed to evaluate annual treatment costs and trends in drug-based secondary prophylaxis after ischemic strokes.

Methods: Annual treatment costs were evaluated using the net costs per defined daily dosage (DDD) of discharge medications for ischemic stroke patients treated in 2020 at the University Hospital Frankfurt, Germany.

Photoreceptors (PRs) are metabolically demanding and packed at high density, which presents a challenge for nutrient exchange between the associated vascular beds and the tissue. Motivated by the ambition to understand the constraints under which PRs function, in this study we have drawn together diverse physiological and anatomical data in order to generate estimates of the rates of ATP production per mm2 of retinal surface area. With the predictions of metabolic demand in the companion paper, we seek to develop an integrated energy budget for the outer retina.

Efficacy and safety of low-dose TBI combined MAC regimen for HSCT in high-risk AML patients with active disease.

Ann Med

December 2025

Department of Hematology, Affiliated Hangzhou First People's Hospital, Westlake University, School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China.

Background: The management of high-risk acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) remains challenging, highlighting the need for innovative conditioning strategies beyond current regimens.

Methods: In the present single-arm study, a FACT regimen comprised of low-dose total body irradiation (TBI) with fludarabine, cytarabine and cyclophosphamide was employed to treat cytogenetically high-risk AML patients exhibiting pre-transplant active disease. This clinical trial is registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry with the registration number ChiCTR2000035111.

Solute transport family 7A member 7 (SLC7A7) mutations contribute to lysinuric protein intolerance (LPI), which is the mechanism of action that has been extensively studied. In colorectal cancer (CRC), SLC7A7 appears to play a role, but the features and mechanisms are not yet well understood. Survival was analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier analysis.
