Telomeres are a specific base sequence of DNA, responsible for chromosome stability and DNA protection. We aimed to investigate the association between telomere systems and IVF outcomes according to patients' BMI. For all telomere characteristics, there was a distinct trend towards shorter telomeres and activation of telomere shortening compensatory mechanisms in the BMI group >25kg/m, reaching statistical significance for senescence only ( = 0.7, value <0.01). There was a trend towards a relationship between telomere length and number of oocytes between telomere length and fertilization rate, but these did not reach a statistical significance. For pregnancy outcome, all telomere characteristics were better for the patients who achieved a pregnancy. While there is paucity of data in the literature concerning the association between telomere characteristics and infertility, telomeres might contribute to the association between obesity and sub-optimal IVF results.

Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is closely associated with the obesity; however, certain proportion of T2DM patients is non-obese or lean (BMI < 18.5 kg/m). Obesity has long been associated with oxidative stress; however, there are no studies available documenting levels of oxidative stress in the lean patients of T2DM.

Context: Telomeres maintain chromosome stability and mark cellular aging, and their shortening with age compromises genomic stability.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to conduct a meta-analysis of existing evidence to evaluate the relationship between the maternal pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and children's telomere length (TL).
Data Source: Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed databases were systematically searched from their inception to August 27, 2023, for pertinent observational studies.

Background: To investigate the long term effects of ionizing radiation (IR) on hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs), immune tissues and cells, and the effects of Siwu decoction (SWD) on immune senescence mice.
Methods: C57BL/6 J mice were exposed to 6.0 Gy Co γ irradiation.

Background: polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are a category of fatty acids that contain omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which constitute a substantial portion of the Western diet and are vital for maintaining human wellness. The extent to which circulating PUFAs influence the effects of BMI on leukocyte telomere length (LTL) is unknown. Additionally, the impact of circulating PUFA on LTL remains controversial in observational studies.
