Stacking and freestanding borophene for lithium-ion battery application.

Nanotechnology

May 2023

State Key Laboratory of Mechanics and Control for Aerospace Structures, Laboratory of Intelligent Nano Materials and Devices of Ministry of Education, College of Aerospace Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, No. 29 Yudao Street, Nanjing 210016, People's Republic of China.

The growth of artificial synthesis two-dimensional (2D) materials usually demands for suitable substrate due to their rare bulk allotropies. Borophene, as a typical artificial synthetic material, has been proved its substrate-growth on metal or nonmetals and its high theoretical specific capacity (1720 mAh g) for next-genatration electrode material, but structural instability and transfer difficulties have hindered the development of its applications. Here, a structurally stable and freestanding AA-stacked-'-4H-borophene sheets have been synthesized bylithium eutectic salt-assisted synthetic method to realize the application of borophene in lithium-ion battery.

Uncontrollable hemorrhage from deep noncompressible wounds remains an intractable challenge. Herein, inspired by the euryale ferox stem which is capable of transporting water and nutrient substances efficiently along longitudinally aligned channels, an anisotropic sponge with rapidly liquid absorption capacity, excellent mechanical compressibility and antibacterial property based on quaternized cellulose (QC), xanthan gum (XG) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO), was constructed. The euryale ferox stem-like structure and multiple interactions, involving hydrogen bonding, electrostatic interaction and chemical crosslinking, endowed the sponge with excellent fatigue resistance, elasticity and efficient liquid absorption capacity.

Clinical implications of anti-idiotype antibodies in COVID-19.

J Basic Clin Physiol Pharmacol

November 2022

Department of Pharmacology, Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal, India.

Idiotype-based therapeutics have failed to deliver their promise, necessitating rethinking of the concept and its potential to develop a viable immunotherapy method. The idiotype based hypothesis is discussed in this paper in order to produce effective anti-idiotype vaccinations. Polyclonal anti-idiotype reagents have been shown to be more successful in animal models, and a better understanding of the immune response in humans supports the idea that polyclonal anti-idiotype vaccines will be more effective than monoclonal-based anti-idiotype vaccines.

BioSin UFMG Club: Engaging a multilevel and multidisciplinary community in synthetic biology.

March 2022

IdeaReal Open Laboratory, Instituto de Ciências Biológicas, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Learning synthetic biology is often seen as a far distant possibility, restricted to those who have the privilege of an academic career. We propose a student-centered discussion group around synthetic biology, aimed at people from high school onwards with different backgrounds to interact and learn about synthetic biology. We developed a 14-week long program with three modules: "Leveling," "Introducing," and "Discussion.
