As a diverse and complex food matrix, the animal food microbiota and repertoire of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes remain to be better understood. In this study, 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing and shotgun metagenomics were applied to three types of animal food samples (cattle feed, dry dog food, and poultry feed). ZymoBIOMICS mock microbial community was used for workflow optimization including DNA extraction kits and bead-beating conditions.

Increasing antimicrobial resistance patterns worldwide have limited the treatment options available. Overuse of carbapenems which were considered as the last resort for multi-drug resistant UTIs over the past decade has led to the emergence of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE).

Background: The infectious complications are the most common and can be life-threatening to liver transplant recipients, in particular, within the first month after transplantation. Early diagnosis of these severe complications and accurate detection of causative etiologies are crucial for the choice of therapeutic strategies and management of liver transplants.
Case Report: We present a case report of a patient with a history of primary sclerosing cholangitis who underwent a liver transplantation (LT) from a living donor.

Background: Fosfomycin (FOS) is gaining increasing importance as part of combination therapy for the treatment of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) and KPC-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae (KPC-Kp), thanks to its in vitro synergism with several antibiotics, high tissue distribution and good tolerability. We analyzed the effect on 30-day survival of FOS-containing regimens compared to non-FOS-containing regimens in critically ill patients admitted to the intensive care unit with CRAB or KPC-Kp infections. Secondary objectives were to evaluate clinical cure and microbiologic eradication in the FOS vs.

Poultry carcasses may be reservoirs for the zoonotic transmission of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria to humans and pose a major public health hazard. During the isolation of from poultry and other foods, many of the presumptive typical colonies on xylose lysine deoxycholate (XLD) agar were found to lack the gene, which is the specific target gene for spp. Therefore, the current study aimed to estimate the prevalence and antimicrobial resistance profiles of extensively drug-resistant -negative non- isolates recovered from native Egyptian chicken carcasses as presumptive colonies on XLD agar.
