Ti-39Nb-6Zr-0.45Al alloy was developed for biological applications as exchangeable hard tissue. This alloy has very low elastic modulus, but lower strength than Ti-6Al-4V alloy. This study was performed for improving the strength by various heat treatments and microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties of Ti-39Nb-6Zr-0.45Al alloy were investigated. Heat treatments were conducted at 350 °C, 400 °C, 450 °C, 500 °C, 550 °C and 600 °C, followed by water quenching. Microstructures of Ti-39Nb-6Zr-0.45Al alloy showed two types of different features. One of the features was not visible for grains at low temperature heat conditions (350 °C, 400 °C and 450 °C), because of the effect of cold swaging. On the contrast, at high temperature conditions (500 °C, 550 °C and 600 °C), the grains were visible. Tensile properties had similar tendency to hardness properties under all low temperature conditions. The samples showed high strength and low elongation under low temperatures, but showed the opposite results under high temperature conditions. These results were due to thermal phases and secondary phases inside the matrix of this alloy. phases, which were precipitated under low temperature heat treatments, induce high strength and low elongation. In case of high temperature conditions, phases disappeared into the matrix and secondary phases with fine size appeared. oung's moduli of the samples under all the conditions were lower (about 60 GPa) than those of the as-swaged (about 70 GPa). Consequently, the heattreated Ti-39Nb-6Zr-0.45Al alloy had high strength and very low elastic modulus for biomedical applications.

The design and fabrication of nanocatalysts with high accessibility and sintering resistance remain significant challenges in heterogeneous electrocatalysis. Herein, a novel catalyst is introduced that combines electronic pumping with alloy crystal facet engineering. At the nanoscale, the electronic pump leverages the chemical potential difference to drive electron migration from one region to another, separating and transferring electron-hole pairs.

Taking the titanium alloy wing-body connection joint at the rear beam of a certain type of aircraft as the research object, this study analyzed the failure mechanism and verified the structural safety of the wing-body connection joint under actual flight loads. Firstly, this study verified the validity of the loading system and the measuring system in the test system through the pre-test, and the repeatability of the test was analyzed for error to ensure the accuracy of the experimental data. Then, the test piece was subjected to 400,000 random load tests of flight takeoffs and landings, 100,000 Class A load tests, and ground-air-ground load tests, and the test piece fractured under the ground-air-ground load tests.

In this study, a simple and easy synthesis strategy to realize the modification of AuHgPt nanoalloy materials on the surface of ITO glass at room temperature is presented. Gold nanoparticles as templates were obtained by electrochemical deposition, mercury was introduced as an intermediate to form an amalgam, and then a galvanic replacement reaction was utilized to successfully prepare gold-mercury-platinum (AuHgPt) nanoalloys. The obtained alloys were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques.

To avoid wear and tear of the slip ring due to electrical corrosion, the slip ring needs to undergo the running-in process under atmospheric conditions without current after assembly. To address the urgent demand for long-service capability space conductive slip rings in the aerospace field, the running-in behavior and failure mechanism between the AgCuNi alloy and Au-electroplated layer are investigated using a ball-on-disc tribometer in this paper. The results show that the transfer film composed of Au plays an important role in modifying the friction during the sliding process.
