Background: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is implicated as a necessary factor in the development of multiple sclerosis (MS) and may also be a driver of disease activity. Although it is not clear whether ongoing viral replication is the driver for MS pathology, MS researchers have considered the prospect of using drugs with potential efficacy against EBV in the treatment of MS. We have undertaken scientific and lived experience expert panel reviews to shortlist existing licensed therapies that could be used in later-stage clinical trials in MS.

Background: Little is known about the efficacy of preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) or what biologic factors may influence HIV transmission in transgender men (TGM). In this study, we sought to explore the effect of testosterone on the vaginal microbiome, cervicovaginal fluid (CVF) tenofovir concentrations, and levels of CVF inflammatory markers in TGM on PrEP.
Methods: Cervicovaginal fluid was collected from 13 TGM (7 using testosterone) and 32 cisgender women (CGW) on PrEP.

Background: Our study aimed to explore whether hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) levels affected the role of nucleot(s)ide analog treatment (entecavir (ETV) and tenofovir (TDF)) in improving the prognosis of hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients after liver resection.
Methods: A total of 865 HBV-related HCC patients after hepatectomy treated with TDF or ETV were included in our study. Patients were divided into the high HBsAg cohort (n=681) and the low HBsAg cohort (n=184).

Background: The BASE study (NCT03998176), a phase 4, 48-week (W), single-arm, prospective trial, revealed that the use of bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (B/F/TAF) in people with HIV and substance use disorders (PWH/SUD) was safe and effective without emergent antiretroviral resistance despite incomplete adherence. Here, we present the W96 results.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of all participants enrolled in the BASE study was completed from W48 to W96.

Rationale & Objective: Longitudinal research on chronic kidney disease (CKD) in sub-Saharan Africa is sparse, especially among people living with HIV (PLWH). We evaluated the incidence of CKD among PLWH compared with HIV-uninfected controls in Tanzania.
Study Design: Prospective cohort study.
