Purpose: Chemical chelation with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is an established treatment for calcific band keratopathy (CBK), whereas removal of calcium deposits from the subepithelial layer of the cornea may cause corneal irregularity. Using Fourier harmonic analysis, we analyzed the corneal topography in eyes with CBK treated by EDTA chelation.

Study Design: Retrospective, single-center study.

Measuring the effects of motion corruption in fetal fMRI.

Hum Brain Mapp

February 2025

Computational Imaging Research Lab, Department of Biomedical Imaging and Image-Guided Therapy, Medical University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria.

Irregular and unpredictable fetal movement is the most common cause of artifacts in in utero functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), affecting analysis and limiting our understanding of early functional brain development. The accurate detection of corrupted functional connectivity (FC) resulting from motion artifacts or preprocessing, instead of neural activity, is a prerequisite for reliable and valid analysis of FC and early brain development. Approaches to address this problem in adult data are of limited utility in fetal fMRI.

Therapeutic insight into the role of nuclear protein HNF4α in liver carcinogenesis.

Adv Protein Chem Struct Biol

January 2025

Department of Bio-Medical Sciences, School of Bio Sciences and Technology, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. Electronic address:

Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4-alpha (HNF4α), a well-preserved member of the nuclear receptor superfamily of transcription factors, is found in the liver. It is recognized as a central controller of gene expression specific to the liver and plays a key role in preserving the liver's homeostasis. Irregular expression of HNF4α is increasingly recognized as a crucial factor in the proliferation, cell death, invasiveness, loss of specialized functions, and metastasis of cancer cells.

Aims: Forearm swelling is a common complication following transradial artery interventions. Identifying the factors that influence this swelling and developing predictive models for it are crucial yet underexplored issues. This study was performed to investigate the risk factors for forearm swelling after transradial artery puncture and construct a predictive model.
