Voice preferences are an integral part of interpersonal interactions and shape how people connect with each other. While a large number of studies have investigated the mechanisms behind (speaking) voice attractiveness, very little research was dedicated to other types of vocalizations. Objective: In professional singers, allergic rhinitis can lead to dysphonia and alterations in resonance. Each episode of laryngeal inflammation increases the risk of vocal strain or forces singers to cancel performances. This study aimed to analyze differences between allergic and nonallergic professional singers in self-evaluation of voice quality, objective examination of voice, and limitations of professional activities due to voice troubles.

Background/objectives: The Singing Voice Handicap Index-10 (SVHI-10) is a validated patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) that assesses patients' perception of handicap related to singing voice. A normative value has been established with a score ≥20 being abnormal. However, there is no defined minimal clinically important difference (MCID).

Principal themes, particularly choruses in pop songs, hold a central place in human music. Singing along with a familiar chorus tends to elicit pleasure and a sense of belonging, especially in group settings.
