Aim: This study investigates the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on brain network connectivity in individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Methods: In a randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled experimental design anodal tDCS (vs. sham) was applied in a total of 43 right-handed patients with OCD, targeting the right pre-supplementary motor area (pre-SMA).

Sensitive and accurate detection and imaging of different microRNAs (miRNAs) in cancer cells hold great promise for early disease diagnosis. Herein, a DNA tetrahedral scaffold (DTS)-corbelled autonomous-motion (AM) molecular machine based fluorescent sensing platform was designed for simultaneous detection of two types of miRNAs (miRNA-21 and miRNA-155) in HeLa cells. Locking-strand-silenced DNAzymes (P:L duplex) were firstly grafted at the loop of target-analogue-embedded double-stem hairpin substrates (TDHS) of DTS, making the sensor in a "signal off" state due to the closely distance between modified fluorophores (FAM and Cy5) with the corresponding quenchers (BHQ1 and BHQ2).

Background: The crucial steps in beta cell stimulus-secretion coupling upon stimulation with glucose are oscillatory changes in metabolism, membrane potential, intracellular calcium concentration, and exocytosis. The changes in membrane potential consist of bursts of spikes, with silent phases between them being dominated by membrane repolarization and absence of spikes. Assessing intra- and intercellular coupling at the multicellular level is possible with ever-increasing detail, but our current ability to simultaneously resolve spikes from many beta cells remains limited to double-impalement electrophysiological recordings.

G4s are enzymatically resolved using specialized helicases. Previous studies showed that DEAH-box Helicase 36 (DHX36/G4R1/RHAU), has the highest specificity and affinity for G4 structures.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFUnlabelled: SHP1 (PTPN6) and SHP2 (PTPN11) are closely related protein-tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs), which are autoinhibited until their SH2 domains bind paired tyrosine-phosphorylated immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory/switch motifs (ITIMs/ITSMs). These PTPs bind overlapping sets of ITIM/ITSM-bearing proteins, suggesting that they might have some redundant functions. By studying T cell-specific single and double knockout mice, we found that SHP1 and SHP2 redundantly restrain naïve T cell differentiation to effector and central memory phenotypes, with SHP1 playing the dominant role.
