Missing posterior teeth and posterior tooth extractions are commonly seen and needed within orthodontic practices. With the invention of temporary skeletal anchorage devices (TSADs), clinicians can now effectively close posterior tooth spaces. Various molar occlusions are discussed to help clinicians envision post-treatment occlusions after posterior teeth space closure using TSADs.

The study included 11 PFO patients from the Heart Center of Xinjiang Medical University Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who underwent transcatheter PFO intervention and occlusion surgery between January 2018 and February 2023, and 11 healthy controls. Blood samples were collected pre-surgery, 3 days post-surgery, and 30 days post-surgery for metabolomics analysis.

: The orthodontic management of pediatric patients with rare diseases, such as Ectodermal Dysplasia (ED) and Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), requires complex protocols due to dental anomalies in both the number and structure of teeth. These conditions necessitate a departure from traditional orthodontic approaches, as skeletal anchoring is often required because of these anomalies. A patient with ED, characterized by hypodontia and malformed teeth, presented with insufficient natural teeth for anchorage.
