14-3-3 are regulatory proteins that through protein-protein interactions (PPI) with numerous binding partners could be involved in several human diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and pathogens infections. Following our research interest in the development of 14-3-3 PPI inhibitors, here we exploited the privileged 4-aminoantipyrine scaffold in the design and synthesis of some derivatives endowed with antiproliferative activity against K-562 cells, and capable of binding to recombinant 14-3-3σ as evidenced by NMR spectroscopy. The binding mode was further explored by molecular modelling, while coupling confocal microscopy with intensitometric analysis showed that compound 1 was able to promote the nuclear translocation of c-Abl at low micromolar concentrations. Overall, 1 is chemically stable compared to parent 14-3-3 PPI inhibitors, and thus emerged as a confirmed hit for further development.

Solid-state nanopores offer unique possibilities for biomolecule sensing; however, scalable production of sub-5 nm pores with precise diameter control remains a manufacturing challenge. In this work, we developed a scalable method to fabricate sub-5 nm nanopores in silicon (Si) nanomembranes through metal-assisted chemical etching (MACE) using gold nanoparticles. Notably, we present a previously unreported self-limiting effect that enables sub-5 nm nanopore formation from both 10 and 40 nm nanoparticles in the 12 nm thick monocrystalline device layer of a silicon-on-insulator substrate.

Semiconductor magic-sized nanoclusters (MSCs) possess atomic-level compositional precision and ultrasmall dimensions, allowing accurate modulation of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) properties, essential for advanced bioanalytical applications. However, low intrinsic ECL intensity and poor stability in bipolar electrode (BPE)-ECL systems hinder their broader use. In this work, we addressed these limitations through doping and direct optical crosslinking strategies, achieving a 24-fold boost in the ECL signal and a fivefold stability increase for doped (CdS):Ag MSCs compared with original (CdS) MSCs.

Magnetic refrigeration leads the current commercialization efforts of ambient caloric cooling technologies, is considered among its peers most promising in terms of anticipated energy efficiency gain, and allows for complete elimination of harmful coolants. By now, functional magnetocaloric components (so-called regenerators) based on Mn-substituted and hydrogenated LaFeSi alloys are commercially available. However, this alloy system exhibits magnetostriction, is susceptible to fracture, oxidation, and does not passivate well, rendering it prone to failure and corrosion, particularly when using water as favorable heat exchange medium.

Introduction: Early diagnosis is crucial for improving the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer (GC). However, the currently used biomarkers for diagnosing GC have limited sensitivity and specificity. This study aimed to develop a novel diagnostic model based on miRNAs from glycosylated extracellular vesicles and evaluate its effectiveness in diagnosing gastric cancer.

Two-chamber microbial fuel cell (MFC) with biogas slurry (BS) of corn stover as the anode substrate and as the cathode substrate was investigated to solve the problem of the accumulation of wastewater generated from biogas plants and to achieve low-cost separation of CO from biogas. A simple two-compartment MFC was constructed using biocatalysis and inexpensive materials without expensive catalysts. The performance of MFC (X1-W, Y1-W, Z1-W) with different biogas solution concentrations as anode substrate and MFC (X2-C, Y2-C, Z2-C) with as biocathode were compared, respectively.
