A targeted and synergetic nano-delivery system against infection for promoting wound healing.

Mater Today Bio

April 2025

Department of Laboratory Medicine, The Third Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, 410013, Hunan Province, China.

Purpose: infection is the most common pathogen in burn wound infections, causing delayed wound healing and progression to chronic wounds. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop antimicrobial agents that can promote wound healing for effectively treating infected wounds.

Patients And Methods: Using magnetic stirring and ultrasound to synthesize Apt-pM@UCNPmSiO-Cur-CAZ.

This study investigates the development and characterization of a novel composite material consisting of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) integrated with (UG) and zinc oxide (ZnO) as fillers. The synergistic effects of UG and ZnO were investigated, focusing on their ability to enhance the film's properties. UV-vis spectrophotometry demonstrated that the composite film effectively blocked all UV (UV-A and UV-B) and blue light wavelengths.

For paediatric patients suffering from neurofibromatosis, Selumetinib (SEL) is the only approved drug. Here an original ecofriendly and high pace method is introduced using 96- microwell spectrophotometric assay (MW-SPA) to measure SEL content in bulk and commercial pharmaceutical formulation (Koselugo capsules). This assay was relied on in-microwell formation of a coloured charge transfer complex (CTC) upon interaction of SEL with 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ).

Amorphous solid dispersion (ASD) is one of the most studied strategies for improving the dissolution performance of poorly water-soluble drugs, but ASDs often have low drug loadings, thereby necessitating larger dosage sizes. This study intended to create Soluplus® (SOL)-based microparticle ASDs with high drug loading (up to 60 w/w%) and long-term stability (at least 16 months) using electrospraying to enhance the dissolution of poorly water-soluble celecoxib (CEL). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analyses showed that the electrosprayed SOL-CEL microparticles were amorphous, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) data indicated the presence of hydrogen bonding between SOL and CEL in the microparticles, which helped stabilize the ASDs.

Arsenic-resistant Klebsiella oxytoca strain AT-02 was isolated from the ground water of the Multan region of Pakistan. The strain displayed high arsenite and arsenate resistance as minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) was 600ppm and 10,000ppm respectively. The high tolerance of the isolated strain towards arsenate can be postulated due to significant increase in biofilm in response to arsenate.
