There is the present-day tendency toward prescribing atypical neuroleptics for the management of neurologic and psychic disorders. Alimemazine appears to be very frequently used for this purpose due to the broad spectrum of its actions. At the same time, cases of alimemazine poisoning with the fatal outcome have been described. The objective of the present study was determine alimemazine in the biological fluids from the laboratory animals under the acute poisoning conditions. The experiments were carried with the use of the Wistar rats having 200 g body weight. Alimemazine was isolated from their biological fluids (blood plasma and urine) using the liquid-liquid extraction techniques developed specially for the purpose of this study. Alimemazine was extracted and quantitatively determined by HPLC and HPLC/MS. The method for the isolation of alimemazine from the urine and blood plasma is described. The results of the study give evidence that the maximum amount of the substance of interest can be extracted from the blood plasma within 1 hour after the administration of the toxic dose of alimemazine and within 2 hours after the administration of its therapeutic dose. The maximum amount of alimemazine in the urine is found within 3 hours after the administration of its therapeutic dose to the laboratory animals. It is concluded that the proposed methods for the extraction of alimemazine from the biological fluids can be included in the scheme of the chemical toxicological analysis of this substance.

The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of IL-17, Bcl-3 and IκBζ gene expression in the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) of psoriatic and healthy individuals and to compare the clinical periodontal parameters in the patient and control groups. A total of 10 psoriasis patients and 2 healthy patients in the control group were included in the analysis for IL-17, Bcl-3, and IκBζ gene expression in the GCF. Periodontal health, gingival index, plaque index, and mobility (using a periotest device) levels were compared between the groups.

Background: While serial sampling of glioma tissue is rarely performed prior to recurrence, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is an underutilized longitudinal source of candidate glioma biomarkers for understanding therapeutic impacts. However, the impact of key variables to consider in longitudinal CSF samples for monitoring biomarker discovery, including anatomical location and post-surgical changes, remains unknown.
Methods: Aptamer-based proteomics was performed on 147 CSF samples from 74 patients, 71 of whom had grade 2-4 astrocytomas or grade 2-3 oligodendrogliomas.

Objectives: To compare the plaque reducing efficacy of oil pulling with sesame oil compared to distilled water in a randomized, controlled, examiner-blinded parallel group study.
Materials And Methods: Forty probands without advanced periodontal disease of the University Hospital for Restorative Dentistry and Periodontology, Medical University of Innsbruck (Austria) were randomized allocated to test- (sesame oil) or control group (distilled water) and asked to pull daily in the morning for eight weeks with their allotted fluid for 15 min. Rustogi Modified Navy Plaque Index (RMNPI) and gingival bleeding index were assessed at baseline and after four and eight weeks.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) has emerged as a valuable liquid biopsy source for glioma biomarker discovery and validation. CSF produced within the ventricles circulates through the subarachnoid space, where the composition of glioma-derived analytes is influenced by the proximity and anatomical location of sampling relative to tumor, in addition to underlying tumor biology. The substantial gradients observed between lumbar and intracranial CSF compartments for tumor-derived analytes underscore the importance of sampling site selection.
