In perioperative chemotherapy for breast cancer, dexamethasone (DEX) is administered at high dose to prevent adverse effects. Abrupt cessation of high-dose DEX treatment induces fatigue, but the incidence of the fatigue is uncertain. In this study, we retrospectively evaluated the incidence of fatigue following DEX administration for supportive therapy and the improvement of fatigue with DEX tapering, a gradual reduction of the daily dose, in breast cancer patients.

Hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) for liver metastases (LMs) from breast cancer is not a standard of care, but its effectiveness in patients with extensive LMs who cannot tolerate systemic therapy has been reported. Herein, we report a case of breast cancer LMs that were controlled by anthracycline-based HAIC. A 46-year-old woman with estrogen receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative metastatic breast cancer who had multiple LMs and bone metastases underwent seven lines of systemic therapy (paclitaxel/bevacizumab for 38 months; letrozole, nivolumab/fulvestrant, eribulin, gemcitabine/vinorelbine, high-dose toremifene/abemaciclib, and capecitabine for 21 months in total).

Background: Cardiological complications of oncological treatment, including the most serious one, heart failure, constitute a significant and still unsolved clinical problem. A history of dyslipidemia and complications of atherosclerosis, including coronary artery disease, are established risk factors for cardiotoxicity in cancer patients. In recent years, a protective effect of statin treatment on the development of heart failure in cancer patients has been observed.

Purpose: The goal of this study was to create a cleaning procedure by comparing the performance of six different cleaning methods on the surfaces in pharmacy intravenous admixture service (PIVAS) work area.
Method: A stainless steel plate was simulating contaminated by gemcitabine, cyclophosphamide, epirubicin, etoposide, and paclitaxel, which was then dried and cleaned by per current cleaning protocols. The residues were collected and quantified by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS).

Macrophages and dendritic cells (DCs) are important contributors to anti-tumor immune responses. However, these highly plastic cells are also the primary targets of tumor manipulation, which may result in the development of tumor-promoting subtypes. The effect of chemotherapeutic agents on tumor cells is an area of intense study, but little is known about their effects on innate immune cells.
