To achieve high-performance perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs), an appropriate functional layer beneath the perovskite emissive layer is significantly important to modulate the morphology of the perovskite film and to facilitate charge injection and transport in the device. Herein, for the first time, we report efficient n-i-p structured PeLEDs using solution-processed SnO as an electron transport layer. Three-dimensional perovskites, such as CH(NH)PbI and CHNHPbI, are found to be more chemically compatible with SnO than with commonly used ZnO. In addition, SnO shows good transparency, excellent morphology and suitable energy levels. These properties make SnO a promising candidate in both three- and low-dimensional PeLEDs, among which a high external quantum efficiency of 7.9% has been realized. Furthermore, interfacial materials that are widely used to improve the device performances of ZnO-based PeLEDs are also applied on SnO-based PeLEDs and their effects have been systematically studied. In contrast to ZnO, SnO modified by these interfacial materials shows detrimental effects due to photoluminescence quenching.

Metal halide perovskite nanoplatelets (NPls) possess ultra-narrow photoluminescence (PL) bands tunable over the entire visible spectral range, which makes them promising for utilization in light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with spectrally pure emission colors. This calls for development of synthetic methods toward perovskite NPls with a high degree of control over both their thickness and lateral dimensions. A general strategy is developed to obtain such monodisperse CsPbI NPls through the control over the halide-to-lead ratio during heating-up reaction.

Quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) mixed-halide perovskites are a requisite for their applications in highly efficient blue perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) owing to their strong quantum confinement effect and high exciton binding energy. The pace of quasi-2D blue PeLEDs is hindered primarily by two factors: challenges in precisely managing the phase distribution and defect-mediated nonradiative recombination losses. Herein, we utilize 2,2-diphenylethylamine (DPEA) with bulky steric hindrance to disturb the assembly process of a slender spacer host cation, 4-fluorophenylethylammonium (-F-PEA), enhancing phase distribution management in quasi-2D PeLEDs.

Advancements in printing techniques are essential for fabricating next-generation displays. Lead halide perovskites demonstrate great potential as light emitters of solution-processed light-emitting diodes (LEDs). In particular, the perovskite/polymer composite emitters exhibit exceptional luminescent characteristics, mechanical flexibility, and environmental stability due to the improved film morphologies and defect passivation achieved through the introduction of polymer additives.

Highly bright perovskite light-emitting diodes enabled by retarded Auger recombination.

One of the key advantages of perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) is their potential to achieve high performance at much higher current densities compared to conventional solution-processed emitters. However, state-of-the-art PeLEDs have not yet reached this potential, often suffering from severe current-efficiency roll-off under intensive electrical excitations. Here, we demonstrate bright PeLEDs, with a peak radiance of 2409 W sr m and negligible current-efficiency roll-off, maintaining high external quantum efficiency over 20% even at current densities as high as 2270 mA cm.

Currently, CsPbI quantum dots (QDs) based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are not well suited for achieving high efficiency and operational stability due to the binary-precursor method and purification process, which often results in the nonstoichiometric ratio of Cs/Pb/I. This imbalance leads to amounts of iodine vacancies, inducing severe non-radiative recombination processes and phase transitions of QDs. Herein, red-emitting CsPbI QDs are reported with excellent optoelectronic properties and stability based on the synergistic effects of halide-rich modulation passivation and lattice repair.
