Due to high binding energy and extremely short diffusion distance of Frenkel excitons in common organic semiconductors at early stage, mechanism of interface charge transfer-mediated free carrier generation has dominated the development of bulk heterojunction (BHJ) organic solar cells (OSCs). However, considering the advancements in materials and device performance, it is necessary to reexamine the photoelectric conversion in current-stage efficient OSCs. Here, we propose that the conjugated materials with specific three-dimensional donor-acceptor conjugated packing potentially exhibit distinctive charge photogeneration mechanism, which spontaneously split Wannier-Mott excitons to free carriers in pure phases.

This study introduces an innovative on-site diagnostic method for rapidly detecting the / complex (SBSEC), crucial for livestock health and food safety. Through a comprehensive genomic analysis of 206 genomes, this study identified genetic markers that improved classification and addressed misclassifications, particularly in genomes labeled and . These markers were integrated into a portable quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) that can detect SBSEC species with high sensitivity (down to 10 or 10 colony-forming units/mL).

Rain cracking compromises quality and quantity of sweet cherries worldwide. Cracking susceptibility differs among genotypes. The objective was to (1) phenotype the progeny of a cross between a tolerant and a susceptible sweet cherry cultivar for cuticle mass per unit area, strain release on cuticle isolation, cuticular microcracking and calcium/dry mass ratio and (2) relate these characteristics to cracking susceptibilities evaluated in laboratory immersion assays and published multiyear field observations.
