Papillary carcinoma thyroid is the most common type of thyroid cancer. Papillary thyroid cancer metastasizes commonly to regional lymph nodes, distant organ involvement is to lungs and bone are rare and is associated with poor prognosis. Metastases to intra-abdominal organs are extremely rare. Here, we report a case of 50-year-old female diagnosed with papillary microcarcinoma thyroid who initially treated total thyroidectomy, later presented with metastasis to liver, bone, left adrenal gland, and bilateral lungs. The functioning metastasis was diagnosed by Iodine-131 whole-body scan and later treated with radioiodine.

The incidence of thyroid cancer has shown marked increases globally over recent decades. This study investigated how the incidence of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) subtypes and World Health Organisation (WHO) endocrine tumour classification changes have affected overall thyroid cancer incidence recorded in Australia. Using incidence data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare cancer registry (spanning 1982 to 2019), this descriptive epidemiological study employed joinpoint regression analysis to assess temporal trends in thyroid carcinoma incidence, focusing on PTC.

The longest reported follow-up for thermal ablation of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) is 5 years. We evaluated the long-term efficacy and safety of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in patients with low-risk PTMC with clinical follow-up of more than 10 years. In this retrospective cohort study, we included patients with low-risk PTMC who had more than 10 years of follow-up after ultrasound (US)-guided RFA (performed between May 2008 and December 2013).

This study aims to establish and validate an ultrasound radiomics nomogram for preoperative prediction of central lymph node metastasis in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) before operation. A retrospective analysis conducted on ultrasonic images and clinical features derived from 288 PTMC patients, who were divided into training cohorts ( = 201) and validating cohorts ( = 87) in a ratio of 7:3 base on the principle of random allocation. Radiomics features were extracted from the PTMC patients after ultrasonic examination, followed by dimension reduction and characteristic selection to construct the radiomics score (Radscore) using LASSO regression analysis.

To explore the safety and clinical efficacy of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) located in the isthmus. This prospective study enrolled patients with single isthmus PTMC admitted to General Surgery Department of 983rd Hospital of Joint Logistic Support Force of PLA from 2017 to 2022. After ablation, the ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) were performed to follow up the outcomes at 1, 3, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common type of thyroid cancer, with considerable variability in its clinical presentation and prognosis. Recent studies have focused on the relationship between its clinicopathological characteristics and inflammatory biomarkers, particularly the preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR). Our aim was to investigate the correlation between NLR and the clinicopathological features of PTC.
