Efficacy of non-computerized cognitive rehabilitation in Parkinson's disease: A one year follow up study.

Appl Neuropsychol Adult

May 2024

Department of Neurology and Centre of Clinical Neuroscience, First Faculty of Medicine and General University Hospital in Prague, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic.

In this study, we explored the effect of non-computerized cognitive rehabilitation in patients with Parkinson's disease in comparison with an intervention with elements of music therapy after the completion of a three-month program and one year after the end of the intervention. After the initial neuropsychological examination, the respondents were divided into two intervention groups. The experimental group (n = 26) underwent a twelve-week program of cognitive rehabilitation at a frequency of 60 minutes once a week.

Evaluation of Differential Diagnostics Potential of Uniform Data Set 2 Neuropsychology Battery Using Alzheimer's Disease Biomarkers.

Arch Clin Neuropsychol

October 2024

Department of Neurology, Second Faculty of Medicine and Motol University Hospital, Charles University, 150 06 Prague, Czech Republic.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of the Uniform Data Set (UDS) 2 battery in distinguishing between individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) attributable to Alzheimer's disease (MCI-AD) and those with MCI due to other causes (MCI-nonAD), based on contemporary AT(N) biomarker criteria. Despite the implementation of the novel UDS 3 battery, the UDS 2 battery is still used in several non-English-speaking countries.

Methods: We employed a cross-sectional design.

The memory trace of an intrusive trauma-analog episode.

Curr Biol

April 2024

Department of Neuropsychology, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Bochum 44801, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Electronic address:

Intrusive memories are a core symptom of posttraumatic stress disorder. Compared with memories of everyday events, they are characterized by several seemingly contradictory features: intrusive memories contain distinct sensory and emotional details of the traumatic event and can be triggered by various perceptually similar cues, but they are poorly integrated into conceptual memory. Here, we conduct exploratory whole-brain analyses to investigate the neural representations of trauma-analog experiences and how they are reactivated during memory intrusions.

The cingulate cortex is a limbic structure involved in multiple functions, including emotional processing, pain, cognition, memory, and spatial orientation. The main goal of this structural Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) study was to investigate whether age affects the cingulate cortex uniformly across its anteroposterior dimensions and determine if the effects of age differ based on sex, hemisphere, and regional cingulate anatomy, in a large cohort of healthy individuals across the adult lifespan. The second objective aimed to explore whether the decline in emotional recognition accuracy and Theory of Mind (ToM) is linked to the potential age-related reductions in the pregenual anterior cingulate (ACC) and anterior midcingulate (MCC) cortices.

In the present study we investigated whether hippocampal subfield (cornu ammonis 1-3, dentate gyrus, and subiculum) and anteroposterior hippocampal subregion (head, body, and tail) volumes can predict episodic memory function using high-field high resolution structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We recruited 126 healthy participants (18-85 years). MRI datasets were collected on a 4.
