We propose a novel model of the acousto-optic interaction in circular fibers endowed with the lowest-order flexural acoustic wave that is based on the actual distribution of the acoustically induced displacement vector. The corresponding expression for the fiber's permittivity is derived and compared with the commonly used one. The resonance optical fiber modes and the propagation constants are found. It is predicted that the lengths of the well-known acoustically driven mode conversion LP→LP should be slightly different for the x- and y-polarized incident fundamental modes. Moreover, we unveil a new polarization-dependent mode conversion in which the azimuthal mode number ℓ, as well as the optical frequency of the generated standard fiber mode LP , is governed by the linear polarization direction of the incident zero-order beam LP.

Femtosecond photoacoustic detection is a powerful all-optical technique for characterizing metal nanofilms. However, the lack of accurate descriptions of the temperature-dependent optical properties of metal nanofilms during ultrafast thermal processes hinders the deep understanding of this dynamic behavior, leading to compromised measurement accuracy. To address this, we developed Critical Point Models (CPMs) for copper and AlCu nanofilms to describe their dynamic optical properties during photoacoustic testing.

The spectral response of an acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) is crucial for an AOTF based spectral imaging system. The acousto-optic (AO) interaction within the spatial-distributed area of the acoustic field determines the spectral response of the light incidence. Assuming an ideally uniform acoustic field distribution, phase-matching geometries can be applied to calculate the anisotropic Bragg diffraction in AO interactions, determining the wavelength and direction of the diffracted light.

Myocardial fibroblasts transform into myofibroblasts during the progression of cardiac fibrosis, together with excessive cardiac fibroblast proliferation. Hence, the prevention and treatment of cardiac fibrosis are significant factors for inhibiting the development of heart failure. P-element Induced WImpy testis-interacting RNAs (PiRNA) are widely expressed in the heart, but their involvement in cardiac fibrosis has not yet been confirmed.
