Infection with spp. is endemic to the Middle East and the eastern Mediterranean basin. Brucellosis can mimic infectious and non-infectious febrile illnesses and therefore it can pose a diagnostic challenge. A wide range of deep-seated infections have been ascribed to brucellosis including breast abscesses and infections of prosthetic endovascular devices. The latter are usually rare but difficult to treat short of excision of the infected device. Here, we present the case of a middle-aged Lebanese woman who presented with simultaneous breast abscesses and a pacemaker infection due to brucellosis. To our knowledge, a similar manifestation has not been reported in the literature.

Background: To evaluate the clinical diagnostic value of third-generation dual-source CT for pulmonary embolism, focusing on the optimization of dual-source CT scanning with dynamic reconstruction in acute pulmonary embolism (PE) and various imaging manifestations.
Methods: Eighty-two patients with pulmonary embolism were enrolled and randomly divided into standard CT angiography (SCTA) and dynamic CT angiography (DCTA). DCTA patients were divided into dynamic CT angiography arterial phase (DCTAa), time phase Angiography reconstruction (TMIP-CTA), and 4D noise reduction TMIP-CTA according to the image reconstruction.

In this article, we aim to evaluate the effects of photobiomodulation on mitochondria quantity, biogenesis, and mitophagy-associated genes in breast cancer (BC) cells. Both models were irradiated with a low-power infrared laser (880 nm, 150 mW) and amber LED (617 nm, 1500 mW), alone or simultaneously. We evaluated the mRNA expression of PINK1 and PGC-1α genes, and the mitochondrial number was assessed based on the ratio of mitochondrial DNA/genomic DNA (mtDNA/gDNA).

Hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) breast cancer is the most common type of breast cancer, with continuous recurrence remaining an important clinical issue. Current relapse predictive models in HR+/HER2- breast cancer patients still have limitations. The integration of multidimensional data represents a promising alternative for predicting relapse.

Phototherapy including photothermal therapy (PTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) is widely used for cancer treatment because of its non-invasiveness, spatiotemporal controllability, and low side effects. However, the PTT and PDT capabilities of photosensitizers (PSs) compete so it's still a crucial challenge to simultaneously enhance the PDT and PTT capabilities of PSs. In this work, donor-π-acceptor (D-π-A)-based boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dyes were developed via molecular engineering and applied for enhanced phototherapy of triple-negative breast cancer.

Background: At present, although some studies have offered certain insights into the genetic factors related to unruptured intracranial aneurysms (uIAs), the potential genetic targets associated with uIAs remain largely unknown. Thus, this research adopted Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to study two genome-wide association studies on uIAs, aiming to determine the reliable genetic susceptibility and potential therapeutic targets for uIAs.
Methods: This study summarizes the data of expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) as exposure data.
