Background: Endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke with large-vessel occlusion is the standard of care now. Initially restricted to 6 h after onset, the treatment can now be offered to selected patients up to 24 h based on clinical and imaging criteria.
Objective: Perfusion imaging can help in identifying patients who may benefit from endovascular treatment in the extended time window. Manual analysis of perfusion images is time and skill intensive. Rapid processing of perfusion and diffusion (RAPID) is an automated image analysis system that analyzes perfusion maps. We report our initial experience of using this system in selection of patients for endovascular stroke treatment.
Methods: All patients who presented with acute stroke underwent baseline imaging with computed tomography (CT) and CT angiogram or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and MR angiogram. Patients presenting between 6 and 24 h after onset underwent perfusion imaging, which was analyzed by RAPID. The results were used to select the patients who then underwent mechanical thrombectomy.
Results: RAPID results identifying ischemic core and hypoperfused tissue were available within 5 min in each of the three cases. At 3 months, all patients showed improvement in the modified Rankin Scale.
Conclusion: In extended time windows, RAPID provides a fast and reliable estimate of salvageable brain tissue to help select patients for endovascular treatment.

Highly ordered ultrathin nanosheets (NSs) of Au(I)-Cys were fabricated through aggregation-induced supramolecular self-assembly triggered by an extended agitation in an alkaline environment. The synthesized Au(I)-Cys NSs exhibited intense luminescence and exceptional chirality. Remarkably, additions of biothiols to Au(I)-Cys NSs have significantly enhanced their luminescence emission, and circular dichroism properties coupled with morphological modulations into nanoflowers, nanodendrites, or closely packed aggregates.

The design of the Knowledge-Base is modeled after efforts in the open-source software community and includes three facets: a development platform (GitHub), static website, and service for data archiving. The Knowledge-Base facilitates the practice of open science throughout the research life cycle by providing validation data for recommended and non-recommended reagents, e.

Introduction: Our recent meta-analyses have demonstrated that high-intensity interval training (HIIT) causes a range of mean changes in various measures and predictors of endurance and sprint performance in athletes. Here, we extend the analyses to relationships between mean changes of these measures and consider implications for understanding and improving HIIT that were not apparent in the previous analyses.
Methods: The data were mean changes from HIIT with highly trained endurance and elite other (mainly team sport) athletes in studies where two or more measures or predictors of performance were available.

Background: Research investigating the association between sleep duration and the risk of frailty has yielded conflicting results. This study used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) to investigate the association between sleep duration and frailty.
Methods: Participants aged 45 and above at baseline were included in this study.
Unlabelled: Mild hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy is common in neonates with no evidence-based therapies, and 30-40% of patients experience adverse outcomes. The nature and progression of mild injury is poorly understood. Thus, we studied the evolution of mild perinatal brain injury using longitudinal two-photon imaging of transgenic fluorescent proteins as a novel readout of neuronal viability and activity at cellular resolution.
