A 46-year-old woman developed slowly progressive tongue weakness with a pseudohypertrophic change on the right side of her tongue. She subsequently developed weakness in her proximal lower extremities, skin erythema and a sustained increase of muscle enzymes at 11 M after the onset. A biopsy of the quadriceps muscle showed necrotizing myopathy and a skin biopsy showed erythema nodosum. The present case showed characteristic clinical manifestations that may represent a rare variant of sarcoidosis.

Introduction: Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) patients often have myositis, however, myopathological and clinical data for MCTD are limited. Recent reports have shown that the pathology of MCTD myositis resembles that of immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM), whereas earlier reports described perifascicular atrophy or inflammatory infiltrates predominantly in the perivascular region in MCTD myositis. Introduction: Certain types of muscular dystrophy (MD), notably facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD), exhibit muscle fiber necrosis with regeneration and a nonspecific inflammatory process. Although rare, the coexistence of MDs and autoimmune myositis has been observed. We hypothesized that, in some circumstances, FSHD may predispose individuals to myositis through muscle damage-induced autoantigen overexpression, contributing to an autoimmune response.

Purpose: This study was planned to evaluate limb survival and clinical outcomes of fasciotomies done before and after 24-48 h due to compartment syndrome in the extremities caused by crush injuries after the earthquakes in Turkey on February 6-7, 2023.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 129 extremities of 84 patients that underwent fasciotomy after the 2023 Turkey earthquakes in this single center study. Demographical data of patients, affected limb, time to fasciotomy, limb survival, number of debridements, necrotic muscle debridement, whether graft-flap was needed, and the need for hemodialysis were analyzed.
