Metastable supramolecular polymerization under kinetic control has recently been recognized as a closer way to biosystem than thermodynamic process. While impressive works on metastable supramolecular systems have been reported, the library of available non-covalent driving modes is still small and a simple yet versatile solution is highly desirable to design for easily regulating the energy landscapes of metastable aggregation. Herein, we propose a coopetition-driven metastability strategy for parallel/perpendicular aromatic stacking to construct metastable supramolecular polymers derived from a class of simple monomers consisting of lateral indoles and aromatic core.

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are fluorescent materials that have been developed as sensors for measuring the activities of enzymes. However, most sensors to date rely on end-point measurement and empirical functions to correlate enzyme concentrations with fluorescence responses. Less emphasis is put on analyzing time-dependent fluorescence responses and their connections with enzymatic kinetics.

The increasing use of lithium (Li) in modern technology and medicine has raised up concerns in the scientific community due to the potential impact of this metal on the aquatic environment. Although several effects have been reported in different organisms, there is still scarce information concerning the mechanisms and chronic effects of Li toxicity in marine life. Our main objective is to determine biological effects of sub-lethal concentrations in Mytilus galloprovincialis at different biological organization levels using the biomarker approach.

Ischemic stroke is a kind of neurological dysfunction caused by cerebral ischemia. Astrocytes, as the most abundant type of glial cells in the central nervous system, are activated into reactive astrocytes after cerebral ischemia, and this process involves the activation or change of a series of cell surface receptors, ion channels and ion transporters, GTPases, signaling pathways, and so on. The role of reactive astrocytes in the development of ischemic stroke is time-dependent.
