is an ectoparasitic mite of Asian or Eastern honeybees which has become a serious threat to European subspecies of Western honeybees () within the last century. and its vectored honeybee viruses became serious threats for colony survival. This is a short period for pathogen- and host-populations to adapt. To look for possible variation in the composition of viral populations we performed RNA metagenomic analysis of the Western honeybee subspecies , , , and and their respective mites. The analysis revealed two novel viruses: Varroa orthomyxovirus-1 (VOV-1) in and and a Hubei like-virga virus-14 homolog in . VOV-1 was more prevalent in than in and we found evidence for viral replication in both hosts. Interestingly, we found differences in viral loads of and their , , and its showed partial similarity, while and and their varroa where very similar. Deformed wing virus exhibited 82.20%, 99.20%, 97.90%, and 0.76% of total viral reads in , , , and respectively. This is the first report of a complete segmented-single-stranded negative-sense RNA virus genome in honeybees and mites.

The research aimed to investigate the perinatal pathology of Alpine ibex () through the study of four young subjects (at the age of 3 to 4 months) found dead in Valle d'Aosta, a region of northwestern Italy. The carcasses were submitted to necropsy followed by an examination of ecto- and endoparasites (ECP and ENP); samples from the gross lesions (in summary, cutaneous papilloma and crusts, ocular discharge, lobular haemorrhagic areas in the lungs, catarrhal-haemorrhagic enterocolitis) were analysed by bacteriological, histopathological, and biomolecular methods to define the etiological agent. The subjects, with various co-infection patterns, were affected by contagious ecthyma virus (ORFV) (agent of a highly diffusive pustular dermatitis transmissible to small ruminants and humans), Enteropathogenic (EPEC) (major etiological agent of infantile diarrhoea especially in developing countries), (MC) (cause of an ocular infection common to goats and sheep), various ECP (ticks and keds) and ENP (lung and intestinal nematodes, and coccidia).

Purpose Of Review: Several microorganisms, which are not traditionally considered sexually transmitted infections (STIs), are capable of sexual transmission and have the potential to cause global outbreaks. The aim of this review is to describe pathogens which are not traditionally defined as STIs, to grant insight on current and potential outbreaks and call for clinical vigilance among members of key populations.
